So I took a 500 mile road trip yesterday in my GTI in pretty hard rain. No big deal with an ICE. But I will be making that same trip routinely after I get my AWD Pro S. The public chargers that I’ll be using are all uncovered (as practically all are everywhere), and I was wondering whether it’s OK to hook up a charger under torrential rain? Not a hurricane, but hard rain or even thunderstorms. That could really put a damper 😏 on a road trip.

What are your thoughts? TIA

I’ve done it.. I prepped my app in the car, ran out and plugged in, then thumbed the start bar as I was running back to the drivers door. It doesn’t pump large volumes of electricity until it is turned on and okays your method of payment. On the other hand when it reaches 80% or the specified max it stops transmitting electrify.

Most certainly! There’s communication between the EVSE and the car so no power is transmitted until the system has an okay!
