If vw was smart, with everything going on, trying to get the factory to start production sooner than expected.
The current predicted start date for production at Chattanooga is June 2022, which is already sooner than initially announced (which if I remember correctly was initially Sept 2022 for production start).

The latest interview with Scott Keogh I have seen was Jan.10 here where he says "volume production scheduled to begin in September or October " so he changes his dates.
...
Is 3-month ramp-up a thing with a new automotive assembly line? Show up in June/July, train workers, work out kinks, hit production targets in Sept/Oct? Or is part happening already after that soft run back in August?

Frustratingly, I've seen both June and September listed. At one point, September was the original plan, then it moved up to June. (Could be that both are true, with the line running more slowly at first in June, but faster in September). I'd really like to see an update on that with the interview date included. Too bad Keogh probably isn't looking at reddit anymore with the AMA there long past.

The Clean Technica article is citing a 2023 date for the Buzz, but at the presentation (which was pre-recorded in mid-February, according to fine print after it was over) they stated 2024 availability -- at least, I seem to remember seeing that there, or it could have been an article covering the introduction later. So it could be that CT has slightly oudated information, too.

In any case, the last I heard VW was hoping to restart production on the 18th but we'll see if that changes. I got that information from Automotive News Europe, so I'll keep checking there. I know @VW TECHNICIAN posted that a new supplier is being set up with production resuming soon, so I'm hopeful. ANE had another article saying that alternative plants are sourcing harnesses now. I would guess that some of those Mexican suppliers are expected to supply the TN plant.

The US is 'lucky' in a sense that a local plant was already being prepared to take over production for this market (and Canada also, maybe?) so I feel like I could still get my car in the fall/winter as originally planned (just with the center console swap I really don't want, but can live with). I hope daily that I'll see a news alert pop up telling of the end of this awful war and that the killing can stop. :(

On this engineering tear down of a VW-supplied drivetrain/battery tear down on YT they showed the motor has a big conical shaped bearing on top marked “Made in Ukraine” I imagine that might be a bigger issue for restarting the factory but hopefully not.

That part is not custom built and any new supplier can be used for part you mentioned .... let's hope they choose SKF.
