I have not seen an ID.4 and the dealer has not gotten one in yet (But in transit).

I am not clear on the climate control and audio controls.
it appears that you need to use the touch screen to adjust heat/AC etc? Or are there some dedicated buttons.

Audio- it appears no volume knob? I much prefer those to the button gizmo

i am quite interested, but some of these are pretty annoying to me.

Most of this is possible using voice...no need to touch anything.....it will take some time for adjusting to new layout. ....A/C has dedicated button to switch to A/C screen.

I've had an ID.4 Pro S for about 6 weeks now, and I love it.

Most things are done through the screen, and most are also available using voice commands. The audio entertainment doesn't have a volume control, just touch-sensitive pads on the button row, which some people don't like. There IS an audio on-off button on the left of the buttons which turns radio, etc off but still allows voice guidance from the navigation system. There are also physical volume up and down buttons on the steering wheel.

For climate, there's a physical "Clima" button on the console that gets you to a very usable climate control screen. I use voice control for a lot of that too...you can just say "I'm too hot" and it will lower the temperature for instance. I sometimes find it doesn't pick up on the "Hey ID" trigger phrase, so I just press the physical button on the steering wheel for that instead.

Thanks for the info.

I don’t often have the best results with voice commands. I have a very low pitched voice and the ‘northwest mumble’ doesn’t help. But I will try those when I do a test drive.

I really like a volume knob, way easier to give a spin- over trying to find those little buttons.
I like dedicated climate buttons/knobs too, but perhaps with the custom settings and voice control I can deal with that.

Thanks again.

Try "Hello ID"
I stayed mad at the stupid thing for weeks. Oops, my bad.
maybe I'll try that sometime. I expected to focus on voice commands right away because no volume knob.. instead I decided when I don't have a passenger I generally don't need tunes, certainly not loud enough I'd need to turn it down for something.

The touch screen controls get pretty intuitive in short order, but when your peripheral vision is in use on a task it's still taking attention away from the main task at hand. As it happens, the same applies to physical knobs and buttons, so you might gain less than you think in terms of attention for the road when you're in front of a buttons-and-knobs dash.

Safest of course is for the driver to use or even think about controls as little as possible. I'm learning to enjoy turning off the touch screen to get the big clock face and just rolling with it old-school.

Although the voice system has worked pretty well for me I too in this one case would prefer an audio volume knob, as I think most others. Having said that I've now grown accustomed to using the various steering wheel controls.

I've seemed to hit some optimal climate control settings and rarely change it so not as concerned with those anymore, although I would still like easier seat heating control when that season again comes along.
