Clipper Creek HCS-50p vs 2022 ID4 Pro

Used supplied 110v charger for a week no issues - pressed button on J1772 handle no lights came on when unplugging.

1st time using Clipper Creek - pressed button, white connection light came on, as I started to pull handle out, green light flashed briefly and went out as I had the handle fully out. Id4 displayed "could not charge to 80" followed by error on screen "electrical system not working" and Safely stop driving".

VW service - said nothing wrong with vehicle, we see charging errors - not us but your charger. We tested with our chargers and it worked fine.

Called Clipper Creek - they said there is 300ms safety test after you press the button that the ID4 is interpreting as start of a other charging session. They have seen this behavior on a jeep that expects that disconnect/safety function to be 100ms.

My work around on this is to turn the breaker on the RV subpanel off before disconnecting.

Anyone else having this or similar disconnect issue with their clipper creek
charger on their ID4?

I don't get any errors with my Clipper Creek HCS-50, 2021 ID.4 w/ 2.1 software.

Just for clarification:
- "pressed button" = pressing and holding the release trigger on the charging handle?
- is the car charged to 80% when you're doing this and charging has ceased? Or is still charging, somewhere short of 80%?

That happened one time in slightly over a year. I just unplugged and replugged and it never repeated. No idea why.

Yes, pressing the button is pressing and holding the release trigger on the charging handle.
Yes, the car was charged to 80% when I did this and the ID4 reported on its screen, something like successfully charged or charge completed (don't remember which).
Nope, have two Clipper Creeks… a 40 and a 50; never an error. I’d call Clipper Creek and get an RMA on the unit if it happens more than once.

I would suggest this as well. I have two CCs and a ‘21 and a ‘22 ID4 and none have shown this problem. I did have a problem with one of my CCs and our Volt years ago. Sounded like something similar when I called and they sent me a new one and it worked fine after.
Thanks all am doing exactly what was suggested - rma old get new. Should have new hcs-50p in a week - will update here after receiving and testing. Thanks.
