All, I had to gut a load of apps and old content on my macbook to put this video together, but here we are, Part 1 of what I think will be 10 video's detailing the trip from San Jose to NYC, via Chicago in just 9 days !!!!. It has everything, the drive, the scenery, the charging data (fyi, we consistently outperformed ABRP predictions), and of course the coffee stops. There will be a special video later this week, that details the moment on Day 2 when half the battery disappeared (and the range) from the BMS just 10 mins after charging up.

Let me know what you think in the comments or here.

So I was being very anal about these things, as we were living in the ABRP & EVnotify bubble to really cover as much ground as fast as possible, and that meant being aware of the charge curve. Everything was planned on limit + 10% with a max of 85. And we pretty much kept to it. We came into chargers with 2-3% 70% of the time. There were two notable occasions we had to back off, one was wind related, the second was a software glith. Publishing that one this week.

You are so right about the ABRP app integration into the ID.4 software.
Needs to be done ASAP!
With waypoints added also!
There is Android Auto support in the ABRP app, if you choose to use it. When I first encountered it, there were some limitations however.

Just fiddling, I discovered that I can develop a route with waypoints in ABRP, and "share" it with the map app, which if you are using the Android Auto Google map, works quite well. AA has no idea what the current GOM/SOC are however, so it can't help with that, but it was still pretty good and pretty usable.

Just enjoyed your 100 minute Episode #1. Thanks for posting.

Does anyone here have experience with ABRP Premium in iOS, manually plugging in SoC along the way? Are there weather/wind/terrain limitations using ABRP through CarPlay? I've been expecting to use ABRP to optimize charger hopping on an upcoming road trip, ignoring the VW nav.

I had ABRP working on AA with EVnotify. However, it's glitchy as hell. Better experience having it on separate phone and run Waze on AA

I just bought the premium for iOS but have not used it yet.

Yeah, what I came up with was to just use ABRP as a normal phone app, and then "share to map". I haven't tested with Waze, but normal Google maps running in AA received the route from ABRP and seemed to be pretty usable.

TeslaBjorn has a free 30 day code to use and yes it calculates wind, speed, everything

For your "second phone" would a sim-less old/cheap android phone running wifi tethered to your main phone work, or do you think this is a use case for purchasing the "wifi" from car-net?

Also, can you month-to-month the wifi plan? Just thinking that it would be something great for road trips, but I will likely only get 1 or 2 of those a year and in the summer months.

Yeah it should. Just tether from your own. I also just use abrp + evnotify as phone apps and navigate with the car or Google maps.

Word of advice, in order for evntifiy to work with ABRP properly currently you have to have it active and running with the screen on. Otherwise it won't collect speed data for abrp to use to calibrate. Which seems absolutely insane that abrp doesn't grab its own sped data, but have confirmed with them.

So here is where it gets crazy - I have that second cell working in the car while charging - I get the charging, 10 mins, 5 mins and go alerts on my other cell, which has ABRP on it. I know its becasue they are using a true webapp, its great to get that announcement in the mensroom :)
