Greetings, I registered at VWIDtalk this past Sunday and want to thank everyone in advance for helping me answer my questions. Here’s my concern. My ID,4 was delivered last Monday. My initial thought was that this EV is a great product; build quality and fit and finish are fantastic, super fun to drive, with great range. But that Friday evening, the “ Electrical System not working correctly. Please service vehicle” message was displayed. After googling it, I saw that this appeared to be a common issue. Some users said it was serious issue and you’ll break down, others said it will just go away. So just to be safe, drove home, and dropped the vehicle off at my dealer yesterday. I was informed today that the coolant pump needs replacing, so I googled that too. Ooof, what a mess that searchwas. So here is my question.

Is this the suspect pump below? I saw that there may be limited supplies. If you’ve had a successful conclusion to this problem, please let me know.

Thanks again, happy to be here! Bob

Damn, It looks I wandered into a sh*tshow! 20% failure rate is just plain idiotic. I suppose I'm spoiled after 15 years of buying Asian cars exclusively. I've never had to leave a car overnight with no ETA for repair.

It is not a 20% failure rate: not all are confirmed and an informal survey like this has a strong bias towards negative responses.
This is true. Some cars just needed to be bled properly. The failure rate is most likely a fraction of what the survey reflects.

Your right. approx. 20% is just a small sample on this board. But it still sucks to spend $45000US for a vehicle and have it stuck in the shop 5 days after purchase.

Yes, it does suck for you and others experiencing this issue. But for every one of you there are a great many with no issues, myself included. And again it's likely far less than 20%. It's just that most without this issue didn't bother to seek out the poll and vote while those with the issue were far more likely to research for same and vote. Again, just the way forums operate.

Regarding the failure, luck of the draw I suppose. Let's hope that after this detour, my experience mirrors yours.

I fast charged to 100 percent at EA on October 2nd. It was my first time fast charging. We have a charger in the garage. My mileage was in the low 300's. On the 3rd I got the message that there was a problem with the electrical system and to have the vehicle serviced. I took it in the morning of the 5th. The dealership texted me within an hour or so to say I needed a new cooling pump. They said it was safe to drive so I picked it up. The new pump came in the next day and I schedule the replacement on Friday. I picked it up after work that evening and we took it on a 500 mile road trip over the weekend. Fast charged twice and have not had the issue reappear since.

This is encouraging to read. Any issues since?

I have the same issue, it rarely happens though. It is frustrating. Random errors appeared and disappeared. I am not so sure if the coolant pump is the cause. If so, it should have been already addressed. I bought my ID4 only a month ago and the issue started on the next day. I will video record it next time and bring it to the dealership.
