As you can expect, 2020 will be a complete write off for VW and other automakers.

"We were well on our way to reaching our target of a breakeven for the VW passenger car brand in the USA in 2020," Witter said. "Due to the coronavirus, it naturally won't be possible to meet this now, unfortunately. It's a setback, but it doesn't change our basic aspiration."

Fortunately, VW should have enough time to come out of this mess in time to retool Chattanooga on schedule for the ID.4 and other upcoming full-electric vehicles. I doubt we have anything to worry about, unless more bad news gets released.
