i suggest we have a thread where we can post reports about dirty tricks and junk fees. I am not ready to tell my story yet because, although my FE has been delivered to the dealer, I cannot pick it up until the end of next week because I am out of town. I will not name the dealer yet because my suspicion of shenanigans is based on a phone call from the EV specialist and, when I go to see the car, I will give the finance manager a chance to explain or correct the pricing the EV specialist quoted. But any dealer who persists in adding junk fees or dealer markup should be publicly identified.

If this post is deleted, then I will know that the owners of this site do not want that type of information disseminated.

Fair and honest appraisals are always welcome. Just please ensure you cite all the facts. And do let the Finance manager be your determining factor. I've learned to deflect/ignore all other financial comments and won't discuss finances with anyone else.

to wit: "Are you going to lease or buy?" "I'll decide when I speak with the Finance Manager and see what he has to comparatively offer."

I have an open ticket with Customer Care. But Huey, I am seeing many discussions on leasing & deals getting shoved down the forum (due to how it is setup, nothing dubious) due to the diverse amount of posting occurring this week.

The dealer I am using for this ID4, I got an e-Golf 2 years ago. So I have been in a number of occasions these past 2 years for normal service visits, so the Management know my face. I can tell you so far the experience this time around has been painful. GM of sales called me on Friday & we went line by line to clear everything. Only thing I am not please about is the MF on the lease, but the difference is about $30 a month. Still, that over is a grand over 3 years. I can pick my car up today, but Wednesday works better.

I 'stickied' this thread, fwiw

Yes, the new thread count is very high these days, as to be expected given recent vehicle arrivals.

FWIW I had a very positive experience with my dealer. No shenanigans at all. I filled out their online credit app ahead of time but the salesman only submitted it once I was ready. We texted back and forth on the options I wanted to see and when I showed up on Saturday morning they had those laid out for me ranging from 1.8% at 60/mo to 3.2% at 75 mo. I went w/ 2.6% at 72 mo. I didn't even ask for lease options although they had previously quoted me MF at .00143
with res. for 15k @ 36 mos. 46%, 39 mos. 44%. I tried to get a financing quote from USAA but their systems were down. Their online rates were no better so I went w/ VW credit to keep things simple. I can refi the loan later if there's a reason to do that. I put a fair amount down and they gave me a $500 veterans discount.

I declined all the extra stuff with the finance person except the exterior ceramic / interior surface protection. They offered it at $699. I countered at $500 and they accepted. I figure it's a wash (no pun intended) w/ the discount I got. I'll bring it in this week to have that done.

They were all very excited about the car and I offered to talk to any of their potential customers as an "EV enthusiast". They even gave me some swag: An ID 4 metal water bottle, two VW face masks (nice ones!) and little 2000 mah phone charger.

I was very impressed and happy with my transaction👍. I had determined my walk-out price. I was on-the-road at my price plus the cost of taking my family out to dinner😀. So we'll have to skip a meal sometime.

This is my experience. I have a reservation for a 1ed ID4 currently waiting for delivery. I went for a test drive at the dealer, just to make sure I like the car. I did, so I asked for the out the door price. I got the numbers today. They quoted me based on the demo model. It was MRSP, plus the usual things like destination charges, taxes etc. I'm fine with that. But what I am not fine with is 299.00 for window tinting, 999.00 for "Allstate fabric protection" and a 699.00 "dealer administration fee" There is NO WAY my car is coming from Germany with some dumb fabric protection and window tinting. That's clearly dealer add on crap that I do not want to pay for. Any suggestions for what to do? Call the dealer and demand that they do not add those features to my car? It's not arrived yet.

Yes, call. I asked my dealer not to put a dealer emblem on the back of the lift gate. He gave me a dealer license plate frame. I'm okay with that for now.

Pet peeve, the low speed pedestrian noise maker. Everybody looks at the car strangely. I guess it serves it's purpose, I wonder what the Federal spec is for loudness?

Hmm, I never heard the low speed pedestrian noise maker when I went for my demo and I was listening for it as everybody is complaining about it.

You almost need to have the window down to hear it.
I had my windows down on my test drive, and after I asked my wife if she liked the low speed sound she said "what sound?" and then I pointed it out a few more times when we got slow enough, and she still didn't hear it. Even after a few people standing around the dealer lot said "Jetsons".

I think I only got the license frame, no decal. If I get tired of the frame, that's an easy fix.
My last two cars, I told the dealer to not put a decal on it. On one, it was installed anyway. I was told they are required by the owner to put it on. I wouldn't take the car until they either removed the decal or paid me $300 to advertise for them. They took it off.

As far as license frames, the salesman was putting it on my car and I told him to leave it off. He said the owner was watching him, so I let him continue. It went in the trash as soon as I got home.

The last new VW I bought the sales paperwork was 6 pages thick. I was told all the pages were the same and they were just for different departments. I went thru every page and found buried on page 4, and only on page 4, there was a little blurb that I was okay with them putting their sticker on the car, and I couldn't charge them for advertising. They were not happy when crossed that off, but they did complete the sale. That was the first, and last, time I did business with them.

At first I thought the $500 deposit hadn't been deducted on my P&S, as no obvious reference to same, but the "Cash Due on Delivery" was exactly $500 Less than the above "Total Contract Price." I don't know why they do it that way in MA, or perhaps at this dealership, but .... 🤷‍♂️

edit: spoke with Finance guy yesterday since I was back getting my inspection sticker and turns out it was a printer omission but the math was correct. The "deposit" heading should be listed.

I was telling someone about the car today and how I reserved it in Sept. and it was a $500 refundable deposit and......and then I realized they didn't apply that $500 to my deal. I'm sure it was just an oversight and I'm asking for that back now :)

Thankfully, in SoCal (other than CarMax), dealer decals is not a thing. As CA did not have temporary plates until last year, the popular advertising was temporary license plate as well as the license plate frame. Either way, it's Goof Off or a Phillips head to remove all dealer advertising.

I cancelled my order tonight.
I was supposed to pick up from VW Santa Monica on Thurs.
The rep. Was impossible to deal with..and obviously overworked and ill informed.
In addition..I want to wait until the kinks are out of this new model.
I have 17 months left on my low mileage BMW X1 lease and will have many choices. I am a loyal VW customer..1967 Beetle..and still have my 2011 Toaureg.
