Teslas do cost more for insurance, so that is where that comment likely came from since they sell more EVs than everyone else. I agree that for ID.4 the insurance does not cost more, mine was less than the old 2015 jeep it replaced.

Do you think Youtube videos like this one that posted yesterday and already has over 18k views could be the issue?
The "issue" is they are producing them faster than before for the US. More people getting their long awaited cars is an issue? They are not sitting on dealers lots anywhere I have heard of, the cancellations they are getting sold as soon as they hit the lots.

I am seeing large price cuts ($8000) on used ID.4 that used to be selling for over MSRP like this local one that has been sitting on the lot for 50 days and they keep cutting the price:

I wonder when we will get back to how it used to be when you drive a new car off the lot and it drops $10k right away. I now see 24 used ID.4 within 150 miles of me, when 2-3 months ago I would only see 1-2 on cars.com.

4. if people are buying based on additional research, then FE VW ID4 is a problem for many buyers since it is stuck with very bad software
I have a 21 (not FE) with the 2.1 software and its not very bad its been fine. I have had no lag, and no reboots or any other problems. Other than the bad navigation and myVW app which they still have not fixed in 3.1. And the 21s are not stuck with it, since VW sent a letter that we will be updated to the latest software starting in the next 2 months. I will not be one of the first to update, since I have had no problems, and all the 22 and 23 are reporting many more problems than I have had.

Who, in either the USA or North America, is supplying the electric drive train used in Chattanooga built id.4s?
VW themselves make the rear motor, and the front motor + electronics is made by Magna. (edit: who has factories in Mexico and Canada.)
The Rear permanent magnet motors are produced in-house by Volkswagen Group Components in the Kassel plant in Germany (some components come from other plants). See interesting report about Volkswagen's rear electric motor here.
