Already seeing some effects of the Inflation Act signing. 2022 ID.4s sitting on dealer lots in larger numbers. And Tesla model 3s available for order as early as October 2022. I see a lot more cancellations of Tesla's and German ID.4s because they are directly affected by the new tax bill. Should be interesting how large inventory of ID.4s get before end of year and how quickly you can take order on a Tesla.

If you order a Tesla Model 3 in Dec. 2022... can you refuse to pick it up until January 1st and sign the paperwork then to get the possible $3750 or $7500 off?
Supply not sitting anywhere I have seen and many people have tried that take before and come up empty. Where is the proof? It sure isn’t dealer sites with cars listed for sale as those are the reservations. Don’t believe me? Call them. As far as Tesla goes I doubt anyone here cares or we would be on the Tesla site. I personally won’t pay more for a car just because I like Elon Musk’s takes on what the “man on the street” really cares about. He is as detached from me as Howard Hughes was before him. Money can’t buy brains.

LOL yes VW might as well sink the rest of their 2021-22 ID.4’s to the bottom of the Atlantic too. But all the brands that have had burning batteries, have fleeing wheels+tires, or cost a lot more(including some that may drive into parked emergency vehicles for an additional $15,000)? They are perfectly positioned to eat VW’s lunch!

At most you will save $1400 / year on gas out of which you have to pay extra ev registration fee plus extra ev car insurance. In the end its usually a wash. And with a possible 25k battery replacement at 10 yrs, the risk is too much which is why the 7.5k rebate was an absolute requirement for evs to make economic sense.
12,000 miles on average a year divided by 300 miles for $100 equals how much money per year? Facebook is not Factbook! 🤣

I have had a theory for a number of years now: There are too many wealthy people in America now so the changing financial troubles of the Middle Class(and the Disadvantaged Class) are no longer the main driving force on prices. So now we all can do is sit around wondering why there are no more crashes so we can find great deals on houses or cars that we can afford? Cheaper electric cars coming? Yeah, along with everything else. 🥱

other side of that equation is EV supply which is clearly inadequate to meet the current demand. that will also change but in the next several years while the supply chains and car makers catch up..at this point I hang my hopes on either Yellen postponing the battery requirements (more likely) or VW delivering a US made ID4 before she enacts the battery requirements (less likely)...

as for income levels this gives you good idea:

Walked out of an economics class the 2nd night but I think people forget how many wealthy foreigners(either living here or not) are buying up everything here. They are silently helping to keep prices from falling like they always used to imo.

I am amazed at how many people are taking the “word on the phone” of car salesman. In my experience they will often lie to your face and even tack on $$$ to the agreed price in the paperwork(Jeep). But now on the internet they are 😇

Ha, @gbwilco are they even MY2023? I suspect VWoA had a bunch of cancellations of Germany-built no tax credit MY2022 cars, and they have been offering them to dealers for lot usage.
I used to use you guys for all my VW programming tweaks because of the advice from fellow VW aficionados online. So now you are abandoning VW BEV’s or just the ID.4 that you just unceremoniously dumped? I guess going forward VW owners will be checking out your competitors instead. 👍
