Already seeing some effects of the Inflation Act signing. 2022 ID.4s sitting on dealer lots in larger numbers. And Tesla model 3s available for order as early as October 2022. I see a lot more cancellations of Tesla's and German ID.4s because they are directly affected by the new tax bill. Should be interesting how large inventory of ID.4s get before end of year and how quickly you can take order on a Tesla.

If you order a Tesla Model 3 in Dec. 2022... can you refuse to pick it up until January 1st and sign the paperwork then to get the possible $3750 or $7500 off?
I think 2021 id.4 backlog was stagnant before the signing. So much bad press on the software made people hold off. I wish I had done that, the tax credit was nice but the software is way frustrating. for instance this intermittent bug:

Motor vehicle Automotive mirror Automotive lighting Automotive design Automotive exterior

Turn it off and back on does not fix. Waiting about an hour and it goes away. weird.

Hmmm .. 🤔

I don't think that's a 2.1 stability bug. I think that's a problem with your car that needs fixing. I've never seen that message on my display, and don't recall too many reports of it on this forum or on Facebook.

The only stagnant backlog were the 22s sitting at port for months awaiting a resolution to the software update. The dealer lots were picked bare of 21s for most of the first months of this year.
I will forward the photos to service dept, but so far they have been clueless with this car. The black screen problem has been a NTF every time reported.

My local dealer has 6 of 8 units (2022) showing available to reserve vs sale pending. Shockingly last week I had a cold call from different dealer that sold me my E-Golf back in 3/2020 to see if I was interested in trading it in for an ID.4 - guess the bubble is bursting on the used/new car market. Told them I was not interested and to check back in with me in the new year - they were disinterested 6 months ago while they were chasing crazy markups so I am disinterested now.
VW could create a bit of good will by starting the update process in the US. But they probably will just cut the prices and unload the dogs and move on.

Yeah, if you can wait until 'next year', there are a TON of cars coming and Chevy for sure has a bunch in the pipeline. I know people give Mary Barra a lot of crap, but Chevy does seem to be moving pretty aggressively to EV cars across a wide range of their offerings. If I was in the Tesla price range for a car, the new Cadillac looks really nice, and I'm not a Caddy kinda guy.

Ford by comparison has few models committed to EV. And I personally dialed out of Stelantis a long time ago, so I don't even pay attention to them I'm sorry to say.
You have to give Chevy some props for the Bolt. They have stuck with it and it is now ranked above the id.4 and a lot of other newer EVs. My son is looking at one for my granddaughter to take to college.

I am not sure what you guys are talking about VW of A reported 1660 cars sold in Q2 2022. Ford just announced sales of over 25,000 MME's in August alone. VW does not do monthly sales for a reason.

Yes, they literally had zero 2022s to sell from end of '21 production in December until June – they were all penned up at port awaiting the software update. That's no mystery to anybody who has been following this saga on the forum.
So they can not deliver cars or update them. This really is beginning to look like a dysfunctional company.

Do you think Youtube videos like this one that posted yesterday and already has over 18k views could be the issue? I have reported the same exact problem to my dealer and they still have not come up with a solution or proposed a fix.

The "issue" is they are producing them faster than before for the US. More people getting their long awaited cars is an issue? They are not sitting on dealers lots anywhere I have heard of, the cancellations they are getting sold as soon as they hit the lots.
Yes, I have followed the discussion in this thread, and the only way this discussion gets resolved is when VW of A (and the other EV vendors) publishes 3Q sales data. I personally us the Edmunds car inventory data but nobody has referenced that data in this discussion, so we wait for official sales data.
