My local dealer has 6 of 8 units (2022) showing available to reserve vs sale pending. Shockingly last week I had a cold call from different dealer that sold me my E-Golf back in 3/2020 to see if I was interested in trading it in for an ID.4 - guess the bubble is bursting on the used/new car market. Told them I was not interested and to check back in with me in the new year - they were disinterested 6 months ago while they were chasing crazy markups so I am disinterested now.
VW could create a bit of good will by starting the update process in the US. But they probably will just cut the prices and unload the dogs and move on.

At the moment, I suspect that the 2023 launch is the roadblock - the belief is that this will have version 3.2.. That plus waiting to see how things go in Europe.

Nice! Definitely not seeing that in san diego, Ca. Might takes 2-3 months to filter through.

Yeah, I guess that's not a surprise with the change in the law a lot of people that thought they were going to get it when they ordered and now aren't are probably walking away. It will be interesting to see if they choose a different EV, but only the Mach E and Korean cars are price competitive in size and they are all in the same boat.

Will be intersesting to watch all the EV brands....

TBH, I'm watching the Chevy Equinox EV pretty diligently. ID4 checks almost every single box of mine now but the Equinox starting at $30-35k MSRP is super appealing especially since it'll probably qualify for the tax credit.

Yeah, if you can wait until 'next year', there are a TON of cars coming and Chevy for sure has a bunch in the pipeline. I know people give Mary Barra a lot of crap, but Chevy does seem to be moving pretty aggressively to EV cars across a wide range of their offerings. If I was in the Tesla price range for a car, the new Cadillac looks really nice, and I'm not a Caddy kinda guy.

Ford by comparison has few models committed to EV. And I personally dialed out of Stelantis a long time ago, so I don't even pay attention to them I'm sorry to say.

Emich in Denver has 3 cancelled 2022 that they are marking up $599-2000 so if you don't want to keep waiting its getting easier every week to get one off the lot. They have 28 more in transit so will likely have more cancellations available soon. I expect they will soon be back to MSRP on cancellations.
Good link. Although all 3 are marked sale pending if you click them. In my area the problem is not the markup, it is finding one in the first place. Since they don't last the day, checking the online page does not really help. Doesn't look like Colorado dealers have any issues moving them either, so why would they go through extra trouble shipping it to someone in CA.

You have to give Chevy some props for the Bolt. They have stuck with it and it is now ranked above the id.4 and a lot of other newer EVs. My son is looking at one for my granddaughter to take to college.

Yeah. I think they've really found good standing and the Blazer EV (and by extension the Equinox since it appears similar on the interior) looks like it'll be a winner. One of my best friends has a Bolt and loves it. I think I might have to see if there's a Bolt EUV to test drive around here just to see if I can get an early feel.

But, it's really my backup plan in case I don't pick up an ID4.

Yes, but the Bolt is a hatchback, right? Right now the ID.4 (and some demo Audi Q4s) are the only game in town for a compact EV Crossover/SUV.

Yeah, the current Bolt is a compact hatch. My biggest issues with the Bolt, even the new ones, has been their anemic charging speed (50kW'ish) and the seats... now only available in black. The first gen Bolt seats were not comfortable long term seats. The news ones are redesigned and apparently slightly better, but still leave something to be desired on a longer drive. Though I haven't sat in one of the new ones to be honest. The range and everything else in the car seems to be done pretty well from the Munro and Out Of Spec reviews. I'd seriously look at one if I needed a second electric car for around town however.

For compact crossover/SUV, you have the Ford Mach E, VW iD4, Audi Q4 (not sure of supply), and the 2 Korean 'twins', and MAYBE the new Bolt EUV.

Yeah, that's about the market right now. Honda Prologue is going to use the battery platform from Chevy/GM for a year or two before they're going to really be in the game.

I think the Bolt EUV would probably be more of the hatchback while the Equinox EV is more in the lines of a compact crossover/SUV.

Chevy does have the Blazer EV coming out next year (already something you can reserve and build) that has some interior and exterior impression videos out there. The Blazer EV is going to be a bigger size, though, and is probably more of their mid-size SUV while the Equinox EV will be the smaller crossover that will be similar size to the ID4.

Equinox EV is expected to be unveiled more later this year.

I think the influx of more competitors in the price range is going to help on the demand side of things, when you think of it what was really a direct competitor (price and body style) when the ID.4 came out? Now other makers are slowly rolling out actual direct competitors, I honestly didn't even know about the Blazer and Equinox coming soon in electric but the more the merrier and more supply to meet apparent demand.

I think we've wondered to topic adjacent because so far none of us believe the contents of the OPs post are as universal as implied.

What specifically are you hoping to get out of this thread? A place where you can go into a dealer and buy a readily available ID4 and MSRP?

Guys can you keep this on topic...there is plenty of other threads on the bolt and chevy card vs id4.
