My hands free worked great when new. Now, lots of static in the microphone

VW Indicated, there is no problem It is an owner's error.

This is my fourth (4) electric car I have older cars, they have great hands free systems.

Next time it's it screwe up, I will contact the telephone number that they provided me. Of course, they will not be able to understand me.

Any suggestions?

My 2nd generation Nissan Leaf had zero issues. My BMW i3 had zero issues. My Ford Focus Electric had zero issues

Could it be because of dust on the mic? I find the interior to be a dust magnet tbh.

I think by 'hands free' OP means 'hey ID'. I'm surprised it worked at all for you! I only use it if it's a simple navigation to a saved destination. For phone calls and texts, I hold the voice command button and use Siri.

Update. The service rep made a suggestion. The next time car-net acts up. Call them. They can do some diagnostics right then and there

If it screws up again, I will call car-net and ask for help. I hoping that a future software update will fix these problems.

My Comcast voice activation used to work better than any other device in my home. Recently it is one of the worst.

Sometimes when they "fix" things they break other things. The way of the device-software world these days it seems.

But my "Hello ID" and steering wheel voice button continue to work well. Good to hear the dealership was [somehow] able to address with some [presumed] reset.
Update: Picked up my iD.4 from the dealer today.
Everything is working normally.
Not sure that they did.
Thank you Volkswagen of Oklahoma City.
Thank you for taking care of this matter,
