Hi, thanks for your time.
  • What does "Dynamic Cornering Light Error" mean? I can make it go away by turning off Dynamic Cornering Lights. It comes back immediately when I turn it back on. Is it usually mechanical, software, or both?
  • Does this cause "Light Assist Not Available"?

Are you referring to adaptive headlights or at low speed fog lights that turn on depending on steering angle.
There is different software versions and updates happening between EU and US.
from my observations looking in VW portal couple days ago i have run across this. You should definitely report it to VW service center so that they can contact VW for resolution and fixing.
And from mentioned messages you have seen it is definitely in need of inspection.

The fault could be either mechanical or electrical. In the EU market software 2.3 has been released and I haven't had any faults come to the service centre yet. However I have already replaced 2 headlights on the ID.3 for different faults. You will require going to a service centre to get it checked.

Any faults with front lights will result in other faults for the driver assist systems. Such as the one you mentioned.

Is it steering angle to lights angle that was pointing you to hardware or you had some other hardware related issues....on one ID4 i had reverse wiring that was turning lights in opposite direction from steering angle....
It is complete mess on some ID.4 coming to US

Thank you both for replying.

Sorry, but I don't know what it means with regards to the lights. The icon makes me think it is the steerable feature. (Headlight with arc'ed double-ended arrows across the front of the headlight icon) There isn't much input from the car as to what the lights are doing–ever. The steerable headlights worked the first evening I owned it (3/18). Then, the yellow "Error: Dynamic Cornering Light" started the next morning. There is not whole lot of documentation on what it means. Same with the every-once-in-a-while "Light Assist Not Available" that flashes up, then goes away without registering on the infotainment status display like the yellow Dynamic Cornering Light error does. It flashes briefly as a red error, which I assume is more serious than something like just the ID light not working.

My dealership experience has been gruesome. I admit to attempting to totally avoid them, hoping a software update will do it. However, I'll take your advice and take it in.

That warning icon would appear to me that the lights are not moving with the steering angle input, which would point to wiring or actuator flaw(s).
Dealer service is like semiannual dental hygiene in that rarely pleasant but you simply must in this case.
[Alas most of us don't have the caliber of VW TECHNICIAN and PandaZ at our dealerships.]

I agree about the technicians here on the list, they're restoring my faith that someone is taking VW's future with EVs seriously.

My dealer is still trying to schedule my free VIP oil change. Thanks for reminding me I have a crown scheduled for first thing Monday morning! Maybe I can stop by the dealer afterward, while the Novocaine is still fresh.

It would also be a good idea to start a case with VW Customer Care 1-800-822-8987

[just dreaming] Would be nice if VW would grade the dealerships and give trophies for the best dealerships in each state. That way the consumers know which dealers are great to let their cars get serviced. [/just dreaming]

LOL (sic) At least one would think they'll be easily able to verify this fault and hopefully rectify, even if by typically throwing parts at it under warranty.
btw: I've not had especially good Audi service so it's not just VW.
I trust your Dentist is good however. 😁 Speaking of crowns, my Dentist has a digital-input lath in the office that was originally designed for Mercedes high tolerance parts. So able to map out, produce, and install in one visit (ceramic only however).

After visiting some dealership service centers in AZ and NV I'm amazed how some technicians are working at all .Here in US some dealership don't have calibration machine for windshield cameras or adaptive headlights ( capable to hug curves or move with with steering angle input). What some have reported is in need of inspection....people who bought this option should have it working.
