Hi there,

Just sharing my case seeking for advice or similar experiences.

After 4 days with the car I got a red alert reading "Electric Drive Not Working Correctly. Stop vehicle safely." And it wouldn't move at all.

The dealership picked the car and has it with them for the last 2 weeks. They don't know what's wrong with it, don't know when they will know, how bad it is, how long it will take or how serious is the issue....

Anyone with a similar experience? I asked for a brand new ID4 but it seems is not an option.

Would you wait or try and get a refund?

Thanks in advance.

What does it show on the main infotainment screen? If you see a yellow highlighted part on the car, it could be battery coolant pump bubble or failure of it.

I had the same error but my ID.4 shut down 5-10 second after (just as I was moving to the left turn lane) so I suspect it is not the same problem:

I realize it may be difficult, but their service people will learn how to deal with this at some point. It might as well be sooner rather than later. You just have to turn into a raging jerk, kind of like an American! ;-)

Thanks a lot Voxel, I will have a look at the links shared.

Eric, I think we shouldn't need to force them into looking for their consumers. We are not buying a mobile phone, and VW is not an small starter. Their vehicles should work and they should know how to fix them at least. However, I can be patient.

VW Tech, thanks for the reply I will ask for the ODIS scan.

I guess my question is, would you think once the car is fixed it remains as a "brand new car" or am I receiving a "refurbished" car?

If fixed properly without throwing parts on and guessing it will be OK.
I'm facing a lot of technicians that have learned throwing parts at the car until is fixed. When you have wiring....connectors or ground issues it will never get fixed it will always be band aid.
So my answer is Yes if done correctly and found root cause of malfunction.
Many networking related issues require knowledge and understanding how to troubleshoot. No scanner will help you there....

Thanks again for your reply!. I finally got an answer of what the issue is. It seems to be a Semi Conductor in the Control Module of the DC. The dealership says it is easy to fix and wont affect the car in the long run
