Electrical Issue Notice

Same issue as others before me: the yellow notice symbol indicating electrical system error. For me it was less than a month in. Took it to dealer service. They said the issue was with the horn and electric water system. On a loaner a week now; parts ordered but no ETA on the parts as they are backordered. Not happy and not happy with the shitty loaner (skeletal Tiguan; even the driver side seat is manual).

I have the same issue. Took my car to the dealer July 28 with no ETA. Is your issue resolved? The dealer is also waiting on coolant pump. I have a loaner too.

I finally got traction after contacting the VW customer service (not related to any dealership). They elevated the case to the regional customer service person and he basically called the dealer every week until I got my car back. I got the car back in 34 days. I asked them to reimburse my payment for the days the car was out and I got 1 months' worth back. I never got any upgrade on the loaner as promised by the dealer and the overall poor experience was put into consideration for the reimbursement. In other words, you might not get the same result if you ask for a reimbursement.

The entire process was really frustrating because the dealer kept saying there was no ETA. For me, when the part finally came, it did not work so they had to place another order again, further delaying the final delivery of the car. I asked if I can just pick up my car and bring it back when the parts arrive, but they said no because the water system cools the battery and it would be dangerous to drive without a proper cooling system. I can't believe a new car would have such a significant defect so early on, and based on the comments and replies here, it sounds like this issue is quite common. I'm going to see if I get another issue and when I do, I will hire a lemon law attorney to just have the dealership take the car back.

Thanks for letting me know your story. A month long wait looks like a realistic time line. I'm good friends with the manager of the dealership. He is contacting me each week and said my case has high priority. That doesn't sound too promising if there are so many cars that have issues. I have a decent loaner, but I'm not thrilled about burning gas again. We paid cash for the car so I wonder what they can do for us?! I sure loved driving the car when I had it. Hope it is running well for you.
Luckily there aren’t “so many cars that have issues.” Good luck getting your cars repaired, as you know, it’s a great car and fun to drive…..

I had the same issue.
ID4 with less than 500 miles and 4 weeks old.
Took it to the dealer on August 10, they diagnosed a faulty battery cooling pump.
Here is where the nightmare begins. Dealer did not give me an ETA on the part. They gave me a loaner (very basic Tiguan) and that's about it.
Last week I opened a case with VW of America - the regional case manager left me a voicemail today that the ETA for the part is best case on Sept 14.
In the meantime I have to drive a loaner (much inferior car), still have to pay a lease on a car which I have no possibility to drive for 5+ weeks.
What are my options here? Do you think lemon law applies if dealer keeps the car 30+ days and is it worth pursuing it?

I would like VW to compensate me (at least waving part / all of lease payments) or replacing my car outright

Thoughts?

I am having the same issue you had (see my post above). Who gave you the reimbursement: was it the dealer of VW of America? I am seriously looking into lemon law
I just dropped my ID4 this Tuesday , no eta on water pump!! I think we can start calling this a problem.
I do wonder , what is the actual problem whit the pump.and how is the new pump going to be different from the old one.
I also called around to dealers looking for the pump myself, deformed they do have some , but don't want to share with other dealers.

Iim having that issue too. Dead after 7 days, at dealer for 2 weeks, VW engineer out "in 2 weeks," VWs replacement program takes 20 business days.
Although haven't posted much, am going to take to Twitter because VW is utterly unconcerned.

Lemon laws vary from state to state. My ID4 simply stopped working after 8 days . I now on Twitter because it is taking so long.
