Same day of picking up the car. Anyone experience this issue? I get an "Error: Surrounding area view" Does it have to do with internet connection since my vehicle still doesn't have internet connection. The sales associate says the car is too new and is going to look into it regarding the internet. I can't add it to MYVW app

I bought the 2023 pro plus 3 weeks ago after signing the papers I noticed the camera didn’t work but the lying piece is shit dealer Gunther in fort Lauderdale Florida said don’t worry it’s the module we will have it in 3 days and give you a loaner.I believed the piece of sh-t parts told me the car is too new not in stock in the us they need to order it from Germany. The earliest date would possibly be May 15th and no guarantee.I traded in my Kia ev6 and that was a mistake never drove a car out of the dealership with a problem from day one.F—k VW never again.

It looks like it still has the transport screen protector on it (yellow tag on the right side ... I remember a post about that from a post a while back). It could be that the prep at the dealer missed a step or two? Maybe they need to review their checklist.

When it's fixed, will you post some pictures? The 360 degree view is why I'm buying this model.

I’m having the same issue, but won’t have a chance to take it in for a week or so. Did the dealer get this fixed/is there a way to DIY? The car is pretty difficult to drive without a backup camera to help with that tiny rear window.

edit: to add, I can log in to the app via the car and that doesn’t make a difference. The cameras worked totally fine for a day or two off the lot, then suddenly stopped.

Edit 2: fixed this. Pulled fuse #21 under the steering wheel (the 7.5 in the center row, 4th up) via the solution from this thread. No clue how long it’ll last but it’s all working again for now and the error message is gone 🤷‍♂️ figured I’d pass it along here!

Have you received any updates?

I'm wondering if the issue that is happening with your vehicle is why production seems to have halted for all the Pro S Plus AWD models. All the AWD models that were at 15-1 or further were moved back to 03 Locked status on March 3 with no change in status since then.

I just picked up my Plus and the same thing happened. It worked for a day and then I got the error. So VW bought yours back? Did they give you exactly what you bought it for?

Hi - new to this forum. I'm having the exact same issue with my 2023 ID4 Pro S Plus. Rear view camera inoperative. Surrounding area view error. I have taken my car in for service three times for the same issue. Dealership is unable to repair. I will be taking my car in Monday for a fourth attempt. I am pursuing Lemon law case in North Carolina. I wrote the dealership manager yesterday, but he never responded.

looks like sales person lied to you on the issue. Ask them for compensation.

Hopefully this might help someone with the same problem I have with my id 4 VW 2023.By reading similar posts it helped me.After signing my papers for the 2023 id 4 pro plus I’m driving out of the dealership and the reverse cameras aren’t working. The dealership said in 2 days they will have the part and give me a loaner and I believe them two months later the part is on back order and still don’t have an ETA. After spending five hours on the phone with corporate and six different people, I finally got someone to file a case number for me and contact the dealership. Corporate was telling me I couldn’t file a case because the car hasn’t been in the dealership five or 10 times to get it under the lemon law and I said how can it go to the dealership if they don’t have the part to repair it finally someone listen to me.
The dealership reached out to me and said they would make one months car payment for me as a resolution and expedite the part.
Still no ETA on the part and I’m starting at think this part doesn’t exist. they said it was the control module so I started to think again. Let me bring it to various dealerships get the documentation that the car cannot be fixed and I also realize sometimes you need a second opinion. So that’s what I did. and guess what? Three hours later a different dealership called me they fix the camera there was no part broken. It was an error in the code. They just had to reset the program for the reverse camera the original dealerships mechanic was an asshole. if they couldn’t fix it, I would’ve had my documentation, and I would’ve gone to multiple places to fix it, and if it was unfixable and I would have a case. For the lemon law. Happy now still pissed this is took so long to solve my problem.

I hope the fix works for you...permanently @anichiporu . It seems like a couple people on this thread have had the issue fixed temporarily, but it always seems to come back.

I suspect VW has had a difficult time identifying exactly what is causing the problem, and that is why they halted all production of the Plus trim, followed by removing the 360 camera altogether. (The removal of the camera and power folding mirrors was communicated to plus reservation holders on 3/22/23.) I wonder if they are still trying to resolve it since they haven't removed the feature from our reservation yet, nor have they made the pitiful $300 price adjustment in the portal. But of course, I'm just guessing, since VW doesn't communicate any of that info as to why they aren't building our vehicles yet.

Interesting, I experienced the same issue with surround area camera in the first week of ownership —— in mid February 2023 —- VE Dealer in Greenville SC —- stated it was a software issue and a patch would be available in a couple of months —— nothing they could do to fix —— after returning home —- I reset the system by removing 7.5 amp fuse that control surround camera —- turning car on —- then turning car off —- reinstalling 7.5 fuse and turning car on —- this is only a temp fix but your surrounding camera should operate for awhile but expect to repeat process to recover usage. VW completed software update in late May that did not remedy the issue — VW does states a hardware issue in the computer module that controls system —- however , they indicated the part is unavailable in North America or Germany —- no time frame when available—- contacted VW Cares — they may care but no solution forthcoming— since they are still building cars with this system —- a straight forward solution would be to contact VW plant but was told parts are inventoried for a specific vin car. Sent in SC Lemon Law form but have not heard from VW Corporation. My next step is to to secure legal counsel — their response has been unacceptable. From a consumer point, I don’t believe VW can assure that the module is problem . Good luck

I just picked up my id4 pro plus today for 7 months no camera only error message the dealership said 25 computer modules were sent to the USA recently I was lucky to get one the surround camera is working perfect I’m only hoping it lasts this time before replacing the the part they reset the camera system and it worked for 3 weeks if it last more than a month I will believe the problem is fixed and not a temp fix.Its like walking on egg shells.Nerve racking its a shame because I really like the car.I was thinking of trading it in 3 dealerships said I can get $27,000 the car iis 8 months old 7000 miles and I paid $54,000 for it that’s some depreciation. If it wasn’t for the camera issue I would of never thought of trading it in if the problem is solved I’ll be so happy because it is a nice ride.
