Back in June it was announced that Apple Maps in iOS14 would have provision for EV Routing and would include features such as planning around charge, charger locations, elevation of the route, etc.

Now that iOS14 has arrived I can't seem to find anything, anywhere about the features other than some small print saying you need a compatible car, but nothing more than that. Does anyone have any idea if this will actually happen or it's just an idea.

I find it hard to understand why there's no application that can actually help you plan a trip so, you can find all the available chargers along the way. A Better Route Planner leaves much to be desired. I would imagine Apple might find the best solution but maybe, not?

Apple announced this in 2020 at WWDC. They said BMW, Ford were on the short list of early adopters, but neither has rolled it out to my knowledge.

The thing is, it is a set of API that allow car makers to share car data with the Maps application. But car makers all want to try to take on Tesla's nav app head on. So, will it ever gain wide use?

Apple also tends to release a limited first edition for new API, then over the course of several years, refine it. I was expecting some enhanced API at this year's WWDC, but apparently nothing. Maybe if I hold my breath, something will come of it?

So this is supposed to work through CarNet?
From the sound of it. I'm running IOS 15 now and have both CarNet and Ford's app installed and it still does not show up. A previous poster suggested it may have been deprecated or delayed... who's to know what Apple is working on.
