Hi everyone,
Lots and lots of charging threads and sorting through them was challenging to get my answer!

I had a certified electrician with great reviews come to my house today and install a new 240v outlet in my garage. There was plenty of room in my panel, so no concerns there. I’m using a Lectron 32 amp charger, and my first charge worked flawlessly.

But, I just want to make sure that it is normal for the new outlet to be slightly warm to the touch while charging. I do mean slightly; you can put your hands on it, and it feels quite nice, actually. The temperature read 33 degrees Celsius (it’s so new that I didn’t read how to switch to F yet, but that is 91 F.)

I guess I am just wondering if that temp seems normal, as then I think the warm touch would be normal, too.

Love my black Pro S—Thank you!

as long as your 240v outlet is 40amps or more, 32amp EVSE should be fine. the typical nema 14-50 outlet for example should be rated for abt 75 deg Celsius so u should be fine.

If you have a 240V electric dryer, or A/C compressor, check those connection's temperatures in-operation and I believe you will find them somewhat similar (the EVSE at max is pulling more than either a dryer or compressor however and hence its thicker wire gauge and higher circuit breaker rating).
If you can put your hands on it, and it feels quite nice, I wouldn't be concerned. ;)

My 240 volt EVSE wiring does get pleasantly warm to the touch when charging the car for several hours, but by comparison, I've noticed the 120 volt plug for my vacuum cleaner gets still warmer, though not unpleasantly so, than the EVSE setup. I believe the point at which one starts worrying about the temp of electric circuits in a home environment is 60 C, or 140 F. To give you a reference point, 140 F is the maximum recommended temp for home water heaters and that is downright hot if you are running only the hot tap at the sink.

6-9°F is OK from environment temperature in the shade no sunlight.....anything higher than that is going to lead to overheating eventually. Try to get your hands on infrared scanner or if possible on thermal imaging camera to check your outlet and wiring to the outlet.....It doesn't matter certified and with great reviews if he is not testing his work with continuous load applied with proper testing equipment mentioned above is going to be owner who will have to figure electrician mistake if there happens to be one.
