A little backstory - I've been trying to get in touch with some sort of EV expert at the dealer since about January. Finally, the sales manager called me and apologized. He said people are still training on the car and the whole reservation system is a bit new to everyone. Before he called, I was a bit miffed about lack of response. After the conversation I realized that, by reserving early, I volunteered to beta test VW's new system. Just part of being towards the front of the line, I guess.

He also looked up my reservation and told me that I was in "the first two" and that the car was still in transit. Not sure what he meant by "first two", but I assumed it was at the dealer.

Oh, and I reserved pretty early on day one with an AWD reservation, but switched to the FE in January. I suspect my place in line for the FE was determined more by my initial reservation date rather than the date I switched.

Good point Geo. Hadn't really considered how new this process was to my dealer. I'll try to be more patient with them.

Well said.
Just received a call from my dealership in Pikesville, MD. He said that I was 1 of 2 to be delivered by next Friday. Woo-Hoo! No other details. Mine is blue the other is black😁.
So if you're the other of 2, I may see you there. I thought he said 2 more by the end of the month, said it was January up order.
Here's hoping it's you Geo👍.

I have this feeling that applying the software update to 2.1 is the bottleneck at the moment. They may be doing a good number of them every day, nut it will still take a while to get through all of them.

I asked my specialist, and I got a vague response that no more info was available.

It would be faster I think to have the dealers do it. But according to my dealer, they are all being done at the arrival port. Which is going to take a while to work thru.

I placed my order for a Pro version back on 9/25/20, when the focus was still on the FE. 2nd deposit $400 on 1/15/21 and a couple of test drives on an FE demo. I was contacted by my dealer in Huntsville, AL on 5/11/21 that my gray ID.4 Pro was FINALLY here - the 2nd one delivered in the northern AL area! The ocean crossing from the factory in Zwickau, Germany to Baltimore was relatively quick, but the truck delivery from there to here took weeks - apparently there is a shortage of truck drivers due to COVID. I love everything about the ID.4 Pro, except that it can't take a hitch receiver for a bicycle rack! 😪 I had mistakenly assumed that it could since the FE does have one installed from the factory.
