According to Volkswagen ID.4 reservation holders, talking on the VWIDTalk forum, the first cars are expected in the U.S. in "week 52 of the year, December 17-24th." Volkswagen is calling and/or emailing customers about the upcoming delivery.

The source is this forum, at least we can talk ourselves into it! :)

I haven't received any calls or any email - anybody else received any comms from VW USA yet ?

I talked to VW ID4 Electric Vehicle Specialist today with VW America Customer Service. She stated VW’s timeline for delivery of First Edition is later part of December. Hope they can pull it off as it would be nice to get Federal Tax CrediT this year!

I didn't go back and read the Dieselgate settlement language, but this first shipment of cars is intended for California (and maybe other CARB states) to satisfy the terms listed therein. There was some legalese about VW offering a certain number of vehicles by a certain date. Not to say we're not getting ID.4s in all 50 states (I'm in AZ - non-CARB), but we'll be waiting a bit longer than others.
This is likely our list for first arrivals:
  • California 🔒
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Washington

For 1st Edition, the vw.com verbiage is "Nationwide Q1 2021"

I'm not liking this list with Vermont being considered alphabetically...

I jest. We would likely see the cars hauled up from Davisville after everyone else south of us were already delivered. :sneaky:
Hello everyone!

Like yourselves, definitely excited for the ID.4! As a quick heads up (and additional data point), I just heard back from Boardwalk Volkswagen here in the Bay Area, California on when test drives would be available:

"At the moment the I.D.4 have not be shipped to the US yet. When they do arrive each dealership will get around 2 or 3 demo cars. We are told that the demo cars should be arriving around February."
I think the dealerships are getting about as much information from VoA as we are.
My dealer told me each dealer is getting 1 demo. He also told me VW could care less about its dealers. It’s costing him 250k to put in chargers and set up for the cars.

My dealer told me he doesn't expect a demo vehicle until next summer!!?? I ordered an AWD Pro S and he said I would get my vehicle before he got the demo.

Did you get RWD or AWD
As of right now 1st Edition. But, I may change to Pro S AWD? I looked at the Mach E yesterday, in person. Looks a lot better than pics. But, I’m either going with the ID or Model Y?

That is a really cool looking car but i heard it took a hit on the EPA estimates.

The reason i was asking because of Snow vs RWD
