The crash test video is pretty interesting to watch. ID.4 did very good! Full report here:

Anyone know if we get those inboard seat mounted side airbags in the US?

This is good news! I suspected that such an important and heavy car from VW would fair well in various crash testing. Just one more + in the "Buy" column for me.

Fascinating to see all of the safety stuff in action. Also, this is the first time I've gotten a really good look at the non-fancy headlights that will show up in my Pro.

I don't think they are found in the US cars. There would be an inboard bag visible in the backrest of each seat. Partslink24 has this my VIN:

Side airbag 4X3 Side airbag in front, with curtain
airbag

I put in a Rest-of-World VIN and it shows:

Side airbag 6C2 Side airbag in front with curtain airbag
and interaction airbag in front

That's a bummer, I was pleasantly surprised to see something I've never seen in another vehicle before. Oh well, at least it has side airbags (don't all U.S. vehicles have them in the front at least?). I was impressed with the pedestrian detection, at least the walking ones. The bicycle one...yeah, that person likely got injured at least some. Then again, they should look before crossing the potential path of a vehicle! The automatic braking to avoid the head-on collision while turning was pretty cool to see in action.
