This is new one on me - one-price, fixed-fee charging. The local installation of brand-new charging kiosks I highlighted in the remote-area charging thread are from Universal EV Charging, whose primary feature is $15 per CCS charge, no metering.

The local chargers at 215 S Poplar St, Centralia, IL, were turned on just a couple of days ago, but are not yet in their directory. They're saying "Level 3", but don't indicate capacity, advertising "charge in 15-25 minutes" for most cars. They claim "700+" current locations, but the details on their website are sketchy as to whether that count is entirely Level 3 or includes their Level 2 kiosks at hotels. I suspect the latter.

When first accessing their website there was a map of numerous installations in IL, but for some reason I can't find it again. Maybe one of you will have better luck.

My little EV is not CCS-capable, so I can't try it out for you. As mentioned, activation is smartphone app only, access through QR code scan.

Which I think is exactly their actuarial math at arriving at the $15 flat fee. I wouldn't count on that lasting very long as people game the system knowing they can plan around cutting it closer and get more bang for their buck. That is, provided the network is reliable. Then there are the newer models with more capacity, which will eventually skew the numbers.

Curious about your "average session" estimate. Would each charge like that take ~20 minutes? Just working the other end of their arithmetic.
