I had a small ding in one my center parking sensors and I tried to get it warrantied since it kept giving me an error every time I slowed down. I was told that that VW issued a service bulletin not to warranty the sensors. For reference, they quoted me 540$ to replace. I ordered the part from OEM part source, it was around 120$ and was able to change it out in less than 5 minutes by reaching through the bumper on either side of the sensors and releasing the clips that are on the top and bottom. Just wanted to let people know because I've noticed other people have had issues with their sensors and I don't want them to get ripped off by the dealer.

I guess I should have mentioned that I had seen other in other threads that some folks were hoping to get it warrantied, I understand it was damaged by a stone most likely and not under warranty, however I wanted to save them the time lost going to dealer hoping to have it warrantied. I will however add that it does not seem to be a durable part with several reports of damaged sensors having been reported on this site and on reddit. It also seems suspicious that VW would put out a service bulletin to the dealers if this wasn't becoming an oft replaced part.

I just brought our 2023 ID.4 in for broken sensor that was painted, so it doesn't seem to matter if it is painted or not. They quoted $685.50 to replace (includes painting). I said that is crazy and asked them why they are chipping so easily as we have never had sensors chip on our Toyota, Chevy, nor Honda vehicles. Sensors stopped working at 9,000 miles on my ID.4 due to apparent chip (which is interesting because I looked closely at all sensors several times). I'm waiting to hear back.
