My remote control has a clip on the back that attaches to the visor. Because I'm a Luddite.

 

I read the manuals for both the ID4 and the garage door opener several times to completely understand the procedure. Then it took 1 minute to implement. You may need assistants from a driver in the car and you at the opener.

 

I just held the first/#1 button on my mirror 'til it started blinking, then clicked my garage remote next to it (held the button down for about 2 sec.) Synced pretty quickly. EDIT: answering this assuming you have the Homelink mirror option on yours... I ordered mine from a dealer and installed it myself.

 

Where is the garage door control in the Id4? What model/year do you have?

It is because I though we need a homelink mirror (as an accessory) to get that function, so I am curious how you have that feature... Could it be a feature I didn't know I had?

Just buy smart garage door opener from amazon which you can connect with your regular garage door opener and you can make it smart, now you can control it from your Android auto / Apple carplay by giving voice commands. It will hardly cost you 30-40CAD.

 

You need the home link mirror. It’s available as an accessory and your dealer can install it. And if you’re handy you can install it yourself.

 

The only factory option for an integrated garage door opener is the Homelink mirror or the Full Display Camera mirror. Both are made by Gentex, a 3rd party mirror supplier to many automotive manufacturers.

I decided to install a dash cam mirror, so the factory homelink mirrors are off the table.

I bought an Audi homelink module (8V5063701) for $40 and mounted it in the top of phone charger pocket. It’s nicely hidden and I didn’t have to cut into the headliner. All it needs is 12V. Works great. Range is > 50 feet.

 

I have a 2024 and it doesn’t have an onboard garage door opener. I think there is an OEM mirror upgrade available with that feature tho. IDK about the 2025.

 

If you use an iPhone and feel like an afternoon project check out the Meross garage door opener. Integrates with HomeKit. When I get home I just say "Hey Siri, open garage door". Relatively inexpensive at < $100
