Hi, all. Loving my VWID4 - 2 and half weeks, and 1700 miles on the clock already. And in two weeks I drive it, San Francisco, to NYC and back !!!

Anyway, I ordered the cargo liner when i got the car, but then my wife bought it as well as a birthday gift. So as I have to pay to return it (freight to Weathertech), I am giving it away - please subscribe to my channel, and leave a comment in the review and installation video for it - entries open till 11pm PST 31st May. If you are on my route to NYC ill drop it off personally :)

Jon - Regular EV Dad

PS - I hope this does not break any guidelines - its a genuine offer.

Been enjoying your channel! If I win the cargo liner and you're passing through Denver then cool beans :)

Jon, I watched your video. I'm certainly not trying to be disrespectful, but you have over thought how the liner gets installed. It's designed to fit with the moveable floor in the top position..just where you first started. Directly out of the box, the liner is warped. Given some time to warm up unfolded (or rebending by hand), the liner fits well. As others have done, you might want to add additional pieces of velcro on the vertical sections on the backsides of the seats to improve the buckling there but for the floor the warp corrects itself.

I’m one of the first 8 folks to like your videos as well Jon. 👍🏻 Keep them coming please!

Very kind of you in this offer and since not a buy/sell will just leave it here.

As corfam cites, and I will further emphasize, you always have to let WeatherTech mats relax for a spell and also to outgas.

I’m one who added Velcro just in a belt & suspenders approach.

@jongarusa, Huey52 is right on with encouraging your efforts. Your video is appreciated and certainly should give VW insight on why some level of instruction is needed in box. I hadn't seen your other video's on the ID.4 until now. I'll go back and watch each one. Thank you!

I do think your offer for free liner is very generous too.

First - thanks all for the support - I am working on the first "real" road trip video right now. To the issue of the liner. There was a 30 minute gap between unboxing and fitting (the 4 year old wanted a tea party) - the issue, and I wish I had a picture was the way it fitted, and was pinched. When I get back from this trip, ill share more - but I have maximised the space available, and protected it. There remains an issue of securing the trim, but I have an interesting solution for that - thats a future video.

Yeah, 30 minutes doesn't cut it Jon. I always leave my WeatherTech cargo liners flat in the garage for a number of days before installation, again as much about out-gasing as relaxing the rolled-up shipping condition.

I did install my Monster Mats as soon as I got home from the dealership however. They were flat on their typical hanger but could have better out-gased as well. Yet I always enjoy, as I think most folks, the new car smell which is basically adhesives out-gasing. 🤷‍♂️
