Great dealer experience (I even got an ID.4 early)

Back in February I placed a reservation for an ID.4 Pro S Gradient. Since that time I have been getting worried that I would not get delivery of that vehicle until late in 2021 due to the global chip shortage. I started to call around to dealers in SC, NC and GA to see if any of them had one I could purchase off of the lot. The answer was no everywhere that they only had their demo’s and they could not sell that one. Some even laughed at my questions. I did all this on Wed morning. Wed afternoon Ron Johnson from Steve White VW in Greenville, SC called me and said they had two ID.4’s in inventory, one demo they cannot sell and one first edition that they can sell and asked if I wanted it. Of course I said yes but had some questions.

I asked them costing and if they tacked on ridiculous things like N2 tire fill, scotch guard etc and he said no we don’t operate that way. I found they were charging MSRP with no markup and a couple hundred dollar doc fee. The color was not the original blue I ordered but it was Glacier White Metallic and was nice. I pulled the trigger. Gave them some info over the phone and he called back with everything in about 30 mins. Next thing I docusign’d everything and bought the car.

This morning we made the 3 hour trek from the Charleston, SC area to Greenville, SC to pick up the car. Got there and wet signed some tag transfer paperwork and then they made sure I was setup with the free charging on EA as well as car-net and then I was out the door.

I have never had an easier lower pressure car transaction ever, anywhere. They were honest, didn’t hard sell me any crap I don’t need and I walked out with a great car. Getting to know the quirks and the horribly written manual and so far I am really impressed with the car. Here are some interesting pictures especially the artificially inflated range, due to me putting around in it. I did get about 250+ miles taking the interstates at 70+ with the comfort profile selected. I also used Travel Assist nearly the whole way and it is pretty cool. Some really bad roads trip it up but on a whole it is awesome.

Congrats! I ended up in the same situation canceling my ProS order and picking up a Glacier White that was available at my local dealer. I must say the 1st Edition white steering wheel looks great with the Lunar Gray seats.

I saw your Glacier White FE the day I took delivery of my Dusk Blue. Very nice lighter interior contrast on yours in particular!! 😁 (y) Almost made me wish I had stayed with my Pro S Blue/Lunar initial order ... almost. ;)

I believe the white one you saw was delivered to a customer who had a pre-oreder. The one I ended up getting was a stock vehicle which was expected to arrive sometime in April but they received it unexpectedly early (VIN in the 19xxx range). It was my lucky day 😀.
