Update # 2 today (!): sales rep sent an email stating that mangan grey metallic is ok after all and the car has changed status to ”confirmed in factory” whatever that means - anyone who is in the know?
It means that the production week is confirmed and it's usually done a month before the actual production week. So, unless something unexpected happens, your car will be manufactured a month from whenever that change was made. That does line up with the W40, no?

Of course, "unexpected" is a lot more common these days. I know of cars that have been ready except for some individual thing for months last spring before finally being completed.

EDIT: of course it can also mean that it's being produced right now (over a period of four days), but if that's the case, then your dealer should've seen that the production week is confirmed ("locked") a month ago.

He also said that he strongly advise his customers who have ordered powered seats to cancel that option as the wait for such cars is very long, probably well into 2023 even if ordered a long time ago.

...if I had ordered my car with exactly the same options today it would cost €5000 more after yet another price hike…
Well, that is the issue. Here, only the 'racecar seats' are available powered on a GTX. The other trim level has the regular seats and no power.

This leads to the situation where to make that switch I'd actually have to re-do my order... and pay the current price, so the lower trim level would cost more.

Just nope. I'm going to wait it out. As it's going to be 2023 anyway, it really doesn't matter which month it is. The real difference between '22 and '23 for me, and that I already lost.

🙁 Hope you get a positive surprise vs delivery, at least my sales rep said that GTX models in general get some sort of preferential treatment vs vanilla ID.4 cars in the logistics but it could of course still mean that the powered seats is the culprit. It’s the electronics not the sport seats that is the problem according to my sales rep.

Waiting for an ID.5 GTX which has preference over ID.4 GTX; there are people expecting their ID.4 GTX later than I am, but they ordered four months earlier.

Let's see what it looks like on Monday morning; all four changes have appeared in the system on a Monday. That supports the theory that the guestimation is based on the production of the previous week or two.

The options here for a GTX are powered sports (higher trim) or non-powered regular (lower trim).

I have a SolarEdge system 16,4 kW with 52 panels. This generates yearly between 14,5 - 15MWH depending on the wheather 😀 Most of my panels are in SW location with 40 degrees angle. But som in west as well and the have almost flat angle. When angle is flat the orientation of the panels does almost not matter. My recommendation is put as many panels you can and in all directions this Will make the total installation cheaper since the cost of the inverter is quite large. I was lucky to install my panels some years ago. Now new panels are producing more power but relative cost is also higher due to the massive demand. When I installed the panels 2019 some people almost laughed at me saying it was not profitable. Still I then calculated with 8 years payoff. Will these energy prices stick. It Will be breakeven in 5-6 years so I am almost in the money as they say in finance for options 😀 appologies for this long off topic reply. But I am quite interested in the solar energy.

Nothing new but as I was ~15 minutes away and got word that they have a Kings Red ID.5 GTX in the showroom, went to take a look.

God damn it is a beautiful color. Also tested the regular seats vs. racecar and the latter are superior. Also the 12" screen which the one I tested back in January didn't have is nice.

There was a weird box beneath the trunk on the one with the 12" screen, which may have been the subwoofer included with that. Didn't have the option of testing the sound system, sadly.

All and all, no regrets going the top of the line with everything but the towing hook added, even if it's 5-6 more months of waiting.

Deep into solar as well - the recent energy crisis certainly has not diminished my interest. I have been doing research for years, and despite solar arrays having increased significantly in price, we should still break even within six years - we have enough space to place them in any ideal direction, so we have been advised to face them west and east, possibly with a few of them facing south, and we will produce more in the early and later hours, where we use most, but still spread out over the day.

With a Li-ion battery connected as well, we are hopeful that we can almost power our GTX for free for most of the year.

Wise choice - I found the add-om packages very reasonable when we ordered, and all the extra goodies have all been worth it, including the ones you mention.

The ID.5 is growing on me, I must say - it just has a bit more...panache...

Had a look at the ”My VW” app this morning in a vain hope for some news and almost spit out my coffee: ”Your car is currently being produced” 😲😀🥳 Fingers crossed the rest of the journey to the inpatient owner goes smoothly though I wonder if week 40 is realistic even considering that the VW ro/ro ship goes directly from Emden/Cuxhafen to my town (I see the ship sometimes 🙂).
Hope everyone else waiting gets some good news soon 🤞🏻

That truly sucks big time, I feel your pain mate! 😡 Do you think your local dealer can give an explanation/reason?
No idea, they know whatever VW Germany tells them. Which has been very little.

Germany didn't give them any reason for the delay from October to January either. They did ask if there's a specific reason, but were told no.

Most dealers work for a commission, so it absolutely sucks for them as well.

Hoping it’s yet another VW f-up re planning and information and that you’ll get a new and much earlier date soon…
You and me both, man, you and me both.

Sad to hear you have been postponed again.

Mine was postponed from a suggested production week 42 to week 50 from august to september. My dealer says she doesnt expect it in production before somewhere in Q1 2023 anyway. When we ordered in may 2022 she said at least a year waiting time, so any delivery before may 2023 is a bonus. .

Called them and gave them en earful. They had no idea about what is the reason to for the delay, except it's basically for all with the same trim, so not just me.

I would take a good hard look at Kia EV6 at this point, except that those aren't going to be delivered before 2024, is the latest word.

Then again, at this rate, the expected delivery for the VW is going to be 2024, when I check the crystal ball in January.

We recived our Nissan Ariya last week as a replacement for our 2nd car. Since you are not depening on the towing hook I would reccomend you at least test drive it aswell if you are concidering changing. Had the Ariya been available for test drive when I ordered the ID4 Im not sure I would have gone for the ID4. Maybe only because of bigger luggage room. Have concidered having two Ariyas if the dealer can get me a car thats already in order and would be here quickly.
