Hello,

I am waiting for AWD ID.4, penciled in for Feb '22 delivery. :)
I am interested in if there are multiple versions of ID.4 software on the roads as I was not able to witness lagging infotainment center during my test drive.

Are the most of software related problems intermittent?
Or, do people have different versions of software?

Thank you in advance,

Mike

In the US, there's only 2.1. In Europe, the ID.4 launched with 2.0 and was updated to 2.1 in March-April. There's supposedly a 2.2 that should appear in the AWD, but the test cars in Europe being driven currently are on 2.1. There is a 2.3 update just beginning the rollout process to a very select group of ID.3 users and I imagine will be available to most ID.4 owners by September.

Thank you Nai3t,

I am new to software upgradable cars. :)
So... if I get my AWD in Feb. '22, it will have 2.2?
I would expect all ID.4 trims to have same software version, so that if most ID.4 owners will have 2.3 by September, would I not get 2.3 in 5 months after September?

That's where I'm unclear, and all of the sources aren't 100% reliable.

We're hearing that 2.2 is an AWD stepping stone to 2.3, and that the RWD cars will never see it.

But with 2.3 just about to go public, and AWD ID.4 GTXs running around on 2.1, I'm missing how 2.2 fits in to all of this.

I cannot imagine that your AWD will come with anything less than 2.3.

What’s in the 2.3 update?

That should begin trickling out this week as the first ID.3 owners are receiving the test OTA.

But from what we've been shown in videos, stills, and statements from VW, it's light: smother animations, slightly modified menu structure, maybe addition of charging station search in nav, hopefully (?) bug fixes for intermittent blank screen and volume controls.

Stay tuned, we'll all find out together over the next few days.

This is the best look I've seen of it.

When I exited my garage this morning I noticed what I thought was an update notification adjacent to the 4G LTE icon. It was a large "1" in a blue box. I've never noticed this indication before, and decided I'd wait until I returned home to determine if there really was an update.

The indication remained on the screen during the entire 4 mile drive to the gym. However, when I exited the gym to drive back home the indication was gone. When I returned home, after parking I entered the service mode and so far as I can tell there's no OTA update, and an update hadn't occurred.

Has anyone else seen this transient update indication?

It is a notification that there is a message from the car. Can be a warning or error code, but most of the times I have seen it it has been for "internet radio not available"

Just touch the indication and it will take you to the page with the details

I've gotten the "Internet Radio not available" error multiple times. A bit annoying since it's never worked for me... It generally happens when I'm in a place with poor cell coverage.

Some sort of update seems to have come through; the traffic sign recognition is now detecting school zone speed limits and Do Not Pass signs, which it wasn't doing for the first few weeks after I picked up the car. Not sure if that's connected to the nav 21.7 update or something else.

im absolutely certain my FE recognized Do Not Pass signs the day I took delivery, the beginning of May.

Might just be the school zone speed limits then... for the first week or two the car seemed to think about it, removing the sign from the display, and then it'd just go back to showing the previous speed limit when I passed a school zone sign, but now it shows both the previous "normal" speed limit and school zone speed limit. Do Not Pass signs aren't used heavily in my part of the country - I know there are some states where you'll see them (and the yellow pennant on the left) everywhere you have a solid center line on a two-lane road, but here it's pretty uncommon.

Sometimes that indicates you have a message on your Android or Apple connected phone. If it was update you would not be able to drive. FYI. European updates that are mostly posted are not for USA cars. Europe has more functions. Why, the will not say.

Well, what would you expect them to install if they met your demand? Either there's a US release version, or there's not. We know that the EU version is different enough from the US software that they're not distributing identical software package to all regions.
