For the most part, the car has been to good to us bug wise, well until two days ago.
Randomly while driving, 2-3 warnings showed up on the speedometer gauge stating multiple failures. Speedometer went blank with warnings remaining (see screenshot).
OK - went home plugged it in and that was fixed. Now: Bluetooth won't connect, volume sliders do not work, Apple Carplay is failing and we get random weird warnings such as "brake booster failure".
I've pushed the power button on the infotainment to reset that. Doesn't work. Let it sit to charge over night, doesn't work. Ever since that initial bug failure, seems like a whole new can of bugs was introduced and it's non-stop.
Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Check out post #6 here for how to disconnect 12V and then HV to fully power cycle the car: How to fully cycle power on ID.4?
I think this is also worth reporting to VW Customer Care and taking to your dealer to scan for fault codes to find any underlying issues.
Wow. Not sure we feel comfortable messing with those component. Yikes. My SO would freak if I told her that. We will make an appointment with the local dealer though.
I just can't shake the feeling that some of these weird issues could be related to problems with the 12V system. It seems that it has happened more than once that someone has picked up a new EV and had weird glitches for a few days that just magically disappeared. I am thinking that it's because the 12V battery needed "topping up" if the car's been sitting around for a while. Maybe there's some problem that causes the 12V battery to not have proper charge in the ID4? At least on some vehicles.
The 12v battery is always automatically topped up from the huge main battery if it ever gets low while sitting. (starting with the latest version which all US models have, and most international have also updated.)
Yep. On a warm day (maybe >90 degrees F???) this happens to me. Ive been able to snap it back in place, for the most part, with a gentle push. Doesn't seem to be a problem when the weather isn't as hot.
Yes, I can snap it back in, however that last just for a day until I park in the sun and it pops right back out... not a real solution. Dealer said there is nothing they can do about - WTH?!
In another thread, other people have noted that the dealer replaced the fasteners for the lightbar. I don't know if this solved the problem or not, but this is a known problem so the dealer/VW should definitely do something to try and fix it. Especially since a major selling point for ID.4 over Tesla is the fit/finish.
I checked, and my FE (which I've had < 2 weeks) has the same issue. I managed to push it back in, and it seemed to stay...I'll keep monitoring it. Thanks for the heads-up!
Can't wait to see how my ID.4 I reserved fares out here during our hell on earth summers and 125 degrees. Should really put it to the test...
