It was accurate before the factory went on vacation and the chip shortage. Now it is just a guess, my guess is that your delivery will be closer to the Nov-Dec 21 timeframe. I ordered my AWD Sept '20, locked in March '21, dealer told me my car would be delivered Sept '21. Based on where my car is in production, I will be surprised to see it before Oct '21.In the VW reservation page, my locked order shows October-November 2021 for the AWD ID.4.
I reserved an AWD ID.4 at the end of June 2021 and locked it in early July 2021.
How accurate is this delivery estimate?
Thanks.
Doubtful, I ordered my RWD on May 27 and locked on June 3. Still in step 3 with a delivery estimate of September-October. Last week my dealer said it was scheduled to arrive mid September but considering it is still only in step 3 and then needs to be transported still, this seems not realistic. In the VW reservation page, my locked order shows October-November 2021 for the AWD ID.4.

Great news! Thanks for sharing. I reserved on 9/24 and have been logging in every day the past 2 weeks to see the status change. Still locked but hoping to see an update any dayReserved my AWD 9/23. Locked 3/5. On a ship now. Dealer says it should be there between 9/14-9/26.

It’s an environmentally friendly boat. Sails only. That sounds like some slow boat,
My order dates are similar to yours. How did you find out your car was on a ship? My dealer has no updated info. You have given me a little ray of hope.Reserved my AWD 9/23. Locked 3/5. On a ship now. Dealer says it should be there between 9/14-9/26.
The boat has to stop and charge at an EA station; therefore, the delay! 😂That sounds like some slow boat,

I would have thought everyone who locked on 3/5 would have their car coming very soon because the window wasn't open long and supposedly not very many cars were locked that day (500ish? correct me if i'm throwing bad info out here, this isn't definitive). I locked on 3/5 for my AWD, still status 15-2 and no VIN showing. I know there are shortages of stuff but are cars really trickling out of the factory that gradually?Reserved my AWD 9/23. Locked 3/5. Interesting! I reserved mine in 11/9, locked on 3/9, mine is also on a ship now (although they don't seem to know which one). Dealer says it should be here "last week of September" - I'm in New Jersey. Are you on the East Coast, too? I got my VIN from the dealer, with a build number in the 50-thousands.Reserved my AWD 9/23. I got the stage 4 "leaving the factory" email on 8/11, a few days after the status appeared on the myVW site. Called dealer and they provided VIN #.I would have thought everyone who locked on 3/5 would have their car coming very soon because the window wasn't open long and supposedly not very many cars were locked that day (500ish? correct me if i'm throwing bad info out here, this isn't definitive). So the plant shutting down for vacation is why there isn't a flood of "every" preordered and locked in March AWD cars hitting boats right now - some people just got in before the cutoff?@Cowclops The lock date is misleading, because the AWD/GTX wasn't in production yet. Production didn't start until the summer. It looks like @ByebyeGasStations and a few others cars were built fully before the plant shut down. I'm hoping that a bunch of us get emails in a few weeks and cars in October.
Checking around the forum yielded this thread, where someone reported VW is telling them that they are trying to work in order by reservation date, so lock date may not be relevant. But also logical they might group builds on the factory by trim level or color to make things more efficient. Good luck!My theory at this point would be that it could be as simple as "we built a bunch of white ones that week and then shut down" so its not a continuous stream of cars getting loaded up - and there will be a big gap between people who were lucky and had theirs finished vs people who have to wait a while for it to ramp back up.
I did get locked on the 3/5 date but I didn't actually put in my preorder until oct 7, so it would also make sense that its going in order of pre-order date rather than lock-in date.
