I had a minor side swipe and the car stopped and the christmas tree lit up on the dashboard and would not shift. Got out closed the car doors, locked. Got in again same issue the car would not shift. I am assuming the high voltage system was shut down as a safety precaution. Waiting for adjuster to take look at the car before towing it to the dealership. Anyone had this happen? The next day the 12 volt died, recharged and still would not shift and had all the lights on and slowly the 12 vote went out again. This is kind of crazy even though understandable, to prevent fires. No airbags deployed just a side swipe and have to go to the dealershif for reset.

Sorry to hear this. You are probably better off having the adjuster look at it at the dealer. Body shops often point out damage that the adjuster overlooks.

Sounds almost like the pyrotechnic fuse blew. That’s not just a simple reset but a full component swap.
And if it is i would not risk going with anything but VW repair shop.... working on the internal in HV battery is still years ahead of collision shops to become trained and have right equipment to troubleshoot and repair HV battery pack.

I wonder if that's what is causing the somewhat lightly damaged cars that were posted here a few weeks back to become insurance writeoffs? One of them had only what appeared to be slight impingement of the external siderails.
unlikely, it’s an easily replaced part.
My personal guess would be that they have slight battery housing damage and that they think it would require full battery replacement or something
