I swapped my 20" wheels for 19" wheels

I bought my 1st edition on March 20th. It came with the 20" wheels. Before I contact my dealer, I'm willing to swap my 20s with someone's 19s in this forum. I live in Jacksonville, FL. Anybody interested?

Why? The 20s fill the wheel wells nicely and I don’t think you will gain noticeable mileage?

You gain a little mileage and comfort.

That and you are less likely to get a curb rash on the 19" wheel during parking, or to damage them on a pothole. The wheels cost >$350 to replace when you do any damage.

Cheaper tires, too.

If 19s are already being delivered, the dealership should be willing to swap them with a "downgrade" for free. They'll then up-charge a Pro customer for the 20" wheels.

Do people even have the 19s yet?
Just got my 19s on my base Pro today. (But I want to keep them.)

Any chance you did a test drive in a FE so you can compare the ride difference?

I did test drive the FE, but it was a while ago, and I can't really remember the difference to compare.
On my Flex I swapped 20s for 18s for a softer ride, eventually ended up on 19s. On my i3 I test drove 20s and 19s and the difference is unmistakable, and by my count on the forums, the 20s take the brunt of the pothole damage. I'm very curious how the 19s feel on the ID.4, especially with all the weight this vehicle is carrying.

I initially ordered my Pro S non-gradient in part to get the 19" rims for more comfort and a bit more pothole protection. But I have to say the 20" on my FE are remarkably comfortable and I think look just right and actually good/adequate tire sidewall profile.

I like my 21's more then my 19's. Yes the ride was "comfier", but not my taste. i do like the car being abit more stiff. so was putting my DCC between comfort and sport (Comfort+3 notches) to get the 21's feeling back on comfort+1 notch dcc stand.

Other thing.. pretty hard to not scratch the 21's >.>

I'd trade with you but I don't expect the Pro S I reserved to be here until November or December (AWD)!

I think I would like to do this as well. I don't know if I would pull the trigger.

Did you respond to the thread where we were examining our shocks/struts? No one could find any electronics under there and so last I checked the conversation we weren't sure if US DCC is controlled some way we're not aware of or if we just don't get DCC. We definitely have suspension control in the UI.

Would you mind checking if you have wires going to your suspension?
Done. I got the wheels swapped this morning. Didn't notice the difference on my way back home. The main reason I wanted to swap is because 19" tires are cheaper and there are more options. A set of four 20" are right now north of $1200. You can get four 19" right now between $700+ and $900+ with more mileage warranty.

Did you do it through your dealer or privately with an ID.4 owner in your area?

At my dealer. I went to all VW dealers in my area and put the work out that I wanted to swap.

How did they handle it? From another owner or bought wheels from VW?

Yes, another owner. It was arranged by my sales rep. However the dealer did the swap at no cost.
