Glad to see that you like it
This is great to hear. Thanks for sharing.Nice, I was there too. The car is much bigger than I thought it would be. The seats were great, especially in the back. So much space, so comfy.
Thank you for posting the photos. Looking forward to seeing it in person. Thanks for the photos. Looking forward to seeing her in a week!
How do you get a dealer tour? I've had a reservation for a while (though not First Edition) and nobody from VW ever let me know this was a possibility. I am not too far from Oakland so just wondering if it's still possible and how you got to do it. Thanks.Just got back from the dealer tour in Oakland (last one in California for now I heard). The vehicle exceeded expectations. Quality of materials, comfort, etc. Not like any car I've ever sat in. A little overwhelmed frankly (I've never been this excited about a car before). And it has character, unlike that other EV everyone drives here in California.
Here are a few snaps, though none really do it justice...
I've not been on the market for an EV for very long so might not be the right person to ask. But the interior design of the ID.4 felt elegant in a way that most of the others I've looked at have not. I like clean uncomplicated design that still conveys character. I've driven an eNiro and while that is my second choice, it is a distant second when it comes to the interior, but find it better than most of the others. I've also ridden in a few Teslas and while they have a clean design, they feel sterile and antiseptic to me. They don't evoke a feeling, not a positive one anyway. Granted, this is purely subjective, but it's as if the interior was conceived by someone who fancies themself as a designer but doesn't know how to apply basic design principles, when it comes to shape, form, textures, etc. It wants to look good but ultimately feels cheap. Again, purely subjective.@ElvisM how would you compare the quality to other EVs you've seen in person?
Last week I was taking my Beetle in for some routine maintenance at another dealer and asked when they might have one in, and they told me the Oakland dealer had one on display today from noon to 6, and then I confirmed it on Facebook. I think it's the same car that's going around the country. I guess it just depends on the individual dealer how well they communicate the news out. We just got lucky. How do you get a dealer tour? The quality is very high. Higher than Tesla. VW knows how to make cars and it shows. It feels like a tank (in a good way). The interior feels more premium and more modern than Kia/Hyundai. Reviews on YouTube already mentioned it is much quieter than Tesla. I don't think quality is something to be worried about.@ElvisM how would you compare the quality to other EVs you've seen in person?
