Hi,

I am new to this forum, this is my first post so apologies if this has already been discussed but I was just wondering if others are having delays with getting their ID.4. My order for my new ID.4 was accepted / locked in by VW on June 4th. I got a call from the dealer today to say it will probably be Jan 2022 when my ID.4 arrives. Is this type of delay common at the moment? BTW, I live in Ireland :)

Thanks

Consider yourself lucky, I ordered mine 9/23/20 and still not sure when I’ll get it.

Well, the AWDs are a different story ofcourse, those only just entered production, and I wouldn’t be amazed those would be prioritized over the other orders, due to the early order date
The dealer said that the German plant is now fully allocated to week 42 of this year, with about a 4 to 5 week build time. So that would make it week 46/47 if the build was confirmed today. But my ID is still in a queue waiting for a build start week. So even AWD, if prioritised, in EU will not get a build week until then I guess

There may be a positive aspect with having to wait. Maybe VW will get the bugs worked out by then!

Yep, that is a good point. Also, in Ireland the Reg tag on the car has the year on it. My car will be a 2022 year car so technically a year younger and as such will have a higher resale price 😀😀

just a small rant: is it some sort of European thing to say “week 42”? Just give me a date please, like mid October. “Week 42” has no meaning to me and I don’t want to have to do math in my head when someone can just give me a date… Sorry. End of rant. I just never heard anyone talk like that.

It's a factory production control thing to list the week number. Just the way it works. Nothing personal. ;)

Probably a European thing but it is how VW quote their dates. Week 42 is, obviously the 42nd week of the year which commences Oct 18th. I actually work for a US company and in work we schedule work and delivery by week number so I guess I am used to it. The dealer said that every car set to be manufactured between now and cars commencing manufacturing in Wk 42 are allocated to customers who have deposits made. It is about a 4 week build time for each car and unfortunately, my car doesn't have a build start week yet :(

I'm also in Ireland. I ordered an id4 business at the end of June 21. I was speaking with the dealer yesterday who said my build date of week 44 had been canceled and it is now looking like it will be 2022 before I see the car. I have no build week like you. They really don't have any news at the moment. No definitive build times being given to the dealers. I think along with the chip issues there is also a huge demand for these at the moment. I'm worried about the government grant being canceled before I receive the car. What are your thoughts on this?

We locked our build on 9/27/21 then my dealer texted me on 10/2/21 saying our ID.4 was in production, but I’m still only seeing “03” when I do the search on the VW page. So I’m not sure which is correct, the dealer or the website.

It's great that you can track your car. They don't let us do that in Ireland. Only the dealer has access.

Is that for an AWD or RWD?

I have now an update saying that my build week is now week 2, so that is 2022. And that it will be 5 to 8 weeks after that I should expect to receive the car. Regarding the grant, yes it is a worry but Joe Duffy has told me that my grant has been approved. I am guessing that once it is approved it will be honoured. But, saying that, I don't think there is any risk to that any more as the grant has been extended to 2023. Yesterday, I was driving behind a 212 car and was wondering how the F did they get a 212 ID.4 :)
When we ordered our cars there was no choice of interior colour, we had to the the brown, there is now choice and the prices seem to have increased quite a lot
