VW had announced MY22 ID.3 / ID.4 production would include bi-directional charging. I am interesting if VW holds to that milestone. This provide capability of over 5 Tesla Powerwall+ units at no cost (well you need inverter & disconnect). Super interested to see how VW proceeds. Big impact to Tesla Powerwall value proposition, which is maybe why Tesla automotive is late to market with this feature.

Couldn't there be the possibility that the inverter is the AC charger in the car and the 'disconnect' the cable locking system on the vehicle? The EVSE design will probably have to be modified, and possibly some components back at the panel/CSED.
Article from VW ... you are correct they will use the car inverter to start with Vehicle to Home. V2G: how Vehicle-to-Grid works and what are its benefits

They appear to be planning to follow updated ISO 15118 standard for vehicle to grid (which also includes things like plug & charge). One article discusses using DC Wall Bidirectional Charger to allow for 22kW (compared to AC at 11kW limit). Should be interesting how this develops.

Not sure what to decipher from this, but I’ve been wondering if my US-Spec AWD Pro S coming this Fall will be a 2021 or 2022
The table states that 2022 ID4 production starts Nov 29. That translates to essentially no deliveries of 2022 models this year, regardless of drivetrain.

If they get production going in TN in Nov, then we could see a few here since no more boat trip! I have not heard any more about the TN factory dates, so no way to tell.

Local codes will require a hard shutoff external to the building. Depending on how that looks that might require an external inverter, too.
