Hello All! My 2020 Jetta got totaled and I decided to reserve the ID.4 Pro S and super excited.

How accurate are the delivery etas? Are they arriving sooner, later, or on time for people who have ordered? I know the chip shortage and supply shortage isn’t helping but still wondering.

If you need a car because yours was totaled, you can also keep an eye out on dealer inventory (eg autotrader) and probably find a Pro S in your preferred color more quickly than your reserved vehicle will arrive. Inventory is super tight now but that reflects that VW was not making the ID.4 for several weeks in August. Just this past week the first of several ships with decent ID.4 # on board reached the east coast. In the next few weeks inventory should improve for RWD models where you could snag one for MSRP if you move quickly and cast a net outside your closest dealership. There is also a lot of regional variation so it would be helpful to know what state you're in and to confirm you ordered a RWD and not the dual motor variant.

Welcome to the forum!

When did you place your reservation? What is the delivery estimate that the owner portal provides you?

Over on reddit is this post where people are providing details about their reservations into a Google Sheet. Dates seem to be pretty accurate from what I've seen.

Oh wow thank you! I ordered last night when I posted this 😬 — ETA seemed like Jan 2022.

Ah ok! All good to know! I’m in Austin, TX. So I have access to three (technically 4) VW dealers though the one closest to me is charging well over MSRP so that’s what I reserved online. I went for the Pro S + Gradient in Dusk Blue.

I live in Houston, but I've actually bought a VW from Onion Creek over in Austin.

I just got my ID 4 a few weeks ago, but I just called around to a few different dealerships and was able to find one instead of ordering it. You kind of just have to get lucky and call around.

ah ok, good to know! A dealer closer to me may have a couple on the way so I might just call. How’s the Onion Creek Dealer? I went there once and they seemed pretty good.

I really liked working with them. This was back in 2018 for a VW Atlast, but they were super easy to work with. They did the whole deal over the phone and we drove up that night and signed everything. I'd def. recommend them.

I placed an order for my Pro S and then got impatient. I started looking at the dealer websites in my area to see if anyone had the car I was looking for in stock. I was excited at first because it looked like a number of dealers had them in stock. When I called, I discovered that all of these were cars that other folks ordered. I lucked out though and within a few days found exactly the car I was looking for at a dealership about 100 miles away. Turns out the gentleman who ordered it changed his mind and the dealership was happy to sell it to me. I just happened to call them right after he confirmed he was cancelling his order.

Check out the DFW area, can drive back to Austin same day :).
I was able to purchase mine off the lot in Dallas (Silver Pro S) few weeks ago.
From internet search looks like there are number of the Pro and at least one Pro S (not gradient) on the lots this week.
I haven't called them but I've seen a blue Pro S at Principle Volkswagen in Irving. I've seen it online for over two weeks so it's likely still there.

This actually happens quite a bit. I also got mine this way back in March. Keep trying because a dealer might not have one available today but will have one tomorrow.
