A reset or deactivation may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

What should you do:

Only ten days until I most definitely "will receive the official recall notification letter via first class mail."

Anyone think VW will keep this promise?

Yes. They are legally obligated to by NHTSA.

Yep, the notice is just a formal notice, it's not the fix.
Per NHTSA, the manufacturer "should offer a remedy" with the notice.

.
Oh they are going to wait until last moment to send mails 🤡

Oh and don't take that the wrong way! I mean, I'm hopeful we have a solution close at hand. If VW is sending the new OMs to the dealers for distribution, that hopefully indicates they're close to having something. Either that, or their publisher said "we don't have room to store these any longer" and VW said "ship 'em out!"
They can send out the recall notices, but I’m not confident that they have the bandwidth currently to address those recalls in a timely manner.

This is going to vary from dealer to dealer. For most, their first priority will be to address used vehicle inventory that they have precluded from selling due to the recall. Some dealerships will be overwhelmed by service appointment requests due to sales volumes.
Most VW dealerships have only ONE tech trained on working on these evs(Dirito Bros in Walnut Creek is my dealership). It’s going to be a long wait…
Just like there's "medical tourism" for people looking for cheap surgical procedures and meds, I wonder if this update will spawn "recall tourism." It's been awhile since I've visited extended family in Minnesota! I'm positive my local dealer will have a months-long wait list.

DUMBEST REPLY YET.
Ok @jimw625 , you're obviously more frustrated than many. Please keep your multi-thread ire directed at VW if you must and not fellow members. Thanks.

@Nai3t graciously accepted your reply as humorous but other members may not.

btw: The caps lock YELLING is getting old. We understand your intent without. And that intent may actually get dulled for many, incl. VW, who won't bother to read given same.

Just heard from my service guy this morning that it may be a week or two before they schedule me in for the battery recall update. (Colonial VW in Westborough, MA is the best and most knowledgeable in my opinion!)

They are really running this one down to the wire.

I still have my doubts.

Time for the class action Attorney pit bulls.
Well, today is the day, apparently mandated by NHTSA.

My USPS Informed Delivery doesn't show anything coming from VW so I guess they'll be hand-delivering the notice to my house? Sounds nice.

Because up to now, I feel like they've basically been giving me the middle finger.

I might be wrong, but it was my understanding that March 31 is the day by which the notices have to be mailed. I guess we’ll see.

Dealers are scheduling updates now. I would call your dealer immediately. Some dealers are only scheduling one car per week due to the time/resources involved and the risk of going over the VW estimates. Most seem to be providing loaners. Mine did not, but my car has been there for 4 weeks. They started on mine yesterday and it is still not ready.
