Anybody with ODB know if these component part numbers are visible? If so, would be interesting to see which trims we are finding them in.

Speaking from Europe :
EU Update 2.4 updates these versions to 930 and 6044 <-Fixed
Factory 2.3 is 920 and 6034 <- falls under this recall, but fixed in 2.4. Factory 3.0+ has t his fixed too.

So any versions before 2.4 must need an update.

So what ever VW did with update 3.1 after the boat trip or the current updates ffrom 2.1 to 3.1.. they forgot to add the fixes that atleast delayed the initial release of 3.0 for eu in the beginning of 2022 and announced 2.4 for half year later..

VW doesnt stop amazing me..

Early European (and US?) 3.0 version might still suffer from an older firmware, as I remember 3.0 being available already well before 2.4 was mentioned. on Facebook, VW mentioned that the early 3.0's would get a recall too to improve some things. That actually might be these things.

looked up:
Factory EU 3.0:
DriveMotor [Pulse inverter lol] 6043
BMS 1030

EU 3.1 factory changes the drivemotor to 6044 [fixed]

And trying to think when 3.1 came to live in the factory, but that just before the summerstop somewhere in march 22? 3.2 is being rolled out since august 22 albeit with ota after installing 3.1.

I believe the factory was loadng 3.0 up until 2.4 was finalized in mid-late June, at which point 3.1 simultaneously became available.

Lucky? My VIN (later 2022 AWD Pro S) not listed for this recall according to NHTSA.

I had the exact problem the recall describes. While driving on a crowded highway my ID4 gave me an electrical fault message and coasted to a stop. The car just stopping was not just an annoyance, it was dangerous. Unlike other places, the highways in the metropolitan New York area don't always have room to pull off the road for long distances. After two to three minutes I was able to restart the car and pull off the highway to call VW roadside assistance. The dealer had the car a week in order to replace a low voltage converter. The service manager told me this was one of several problems he was aware of with the ID4.
My experience over the last year with my ID4 has been disappointing.
Sooo your issue is that VW should be responsible for someone else's irresponsible driving? Good luck having VW held liable.

As is clearly spelled out in the NHTSA document, no documented fault has occurred on any ID4 in service anywhere in the world. They know about an error, and they know about what could potentially happen in a worst case scenario, but it's never happened. But they're going to cover their ass and point out the potential risks, and you have to act accordingly.

If you feel unsafe then don't drive the vehicle. But that's VW's fault. The evidence doesn't point to a deadly situation, otherwise they would issue a stop sale and inform owners to stop driving their cars.

This fault carries the same risk as everyday driving. There's a possibility you could hit debris on the roadway and lose loss of power that way. Is that VW's fault? Nope. Your tire could blow out and could cause you to crash into the k rail. Is that VW's fault? Nope.

Driving a vehicle on public roads is an inherent risk. If you don't want to take that risk, park your car and wait for the remedy.
The recall problem is not theoretical. It happened to me on busy highway. My ID coasted to a stop and would not restart for several minutes. My situation was extremely hazardous with no where to pull off.

Imagine the non enthusiast 95% who don’t go on forums or non tech savvy who would panic 😱 if this occurred. You have a split second to react or if could end up like this.

Thank you for this update. I went online and found the recall notice. My VIN was the LAST vehicle that is affected. I have reached out to my local dealer, but with the notice coming today I will not drive the car,yet I’m being notified at the end of March?. For some who have only one vehicle, what are they to do?

I am glad I cancelled my order for 2023 ID4. ID4 is not ready for prime time!
Of course if you are not comfortable with buying an ID.4 you should cancel it.
However you are aware this recall is for the first model year of the ID.4 and we are currently in the third.
As far as I am aware there are no recalls currently for the 2023 ID.4.

For what it's worth, there is no "Do Not Drive" notice associated with this recall. Obviously ever owner should inform themselves of the risks associated with continuing to operate the vehicle, and make a decision they're comfortable with. I could see a "halfway approach" and stick to the right hand lane on the freeway, or opt not to make any unprotected left-hand turns on fast moving roads, etc., for somebody who wants to play it extra safe.

But realistically, driving with the knowledge this could happen and to be prepared to immediately assess and make the decision to move over and coast to a stop, that seems prudent to me.

Why do you keep posting the same video as if it's some sort of GOTCHA! That was a tragic case where the floor mat in the LOANER vehicle got trapped. While reporting doesn't say whether the all weather mats were installed on top of the carpet floor mats, it's quite likely. Floor mat may have trapped accelerator in CHP officer's crash, death

Regardless, that situation where the car was ACCELERATING has nothing to do with a VW recall where the car could lose power and the driver still has control of the brakes and steering.

I picked up my Pro S AWD in Oct 2021. A couple of months later, driving on the highway, the binnacle lit up like a Christmas tree, red errors and the propulsion stopped. I pulled over to the shoulder, steering and braking worked fine. Shut the car off with the button. Got out of the car, let it sit for a minute, then it drove fine and my husband took it straight to the dealership. They fixed whatever it was (I don’t remember exactly) and it has been fine since. I wonder if it was an early occurrence of this identified recall issue…?

That's only because “Doors flying open” hasn't become a recall yet. ;-)
