Kyle from Out of Spec reviews has an excellent video review comparing trim levels on the ID 4.

YouTube link to Kyle's review.

I've been leaning towards the AWD base model, but wanted to find out about several things before committing. Kyle was able to answer some key questions for me.

  1. The sunroof looks great, but it makes road noise more dominant. It's no doubt hotter too. This summer is a warning sign on that front.
  2. There's not much difference between the 10" and 12" screens and they have exactly the same tech.
  3. The 19" rims are more energy efficient. I suspect they offer a slightly more comfy ride than 20" rims too.
  4. The big one for me are the seats. The comfort level is similar enough. Being able to see the manual adjustments in the review was great. The manual adjustments seem to be fast and efficient.
All in all I agree with Kyle. The base model is one heck of deal!

5. the power lift gate on Pro S, I have gotten fond of that on my current car when my hands are full both loading or unloading.
Note the Pro S also has 19" wheels without gradient package, I don't want the 20s for many reasons:
10 miles less range.
More expensive, harder to find tires.
Less miles per tire.
More prone to tire and wheel damage due to potholes.
Easier to scratch the expensive $350 wheel on a curb while parking.
Harsher ride.
Noisier ride.
But the ID.4 is so quiet and smooth even with the 20" that the last 2 are more minor.

Depending on where in Canada, it may be cold more often than hot, see this thread:
The large sunroof is a range extender if used properly.

It was a great look at the trim line comparisons, but Kyle forgot to mention the hitch situation in that video. The 1st edition comes with a 1.25" receiver, but it doesn't look like there is an upgrade path to put a hitch on the other RWD trim lines. Any upgrade would involve replacing the whole bumper crash bar underneath the facia.

Other niggling things missing from the video is that the base model does not have any cupholders in the back seat (no fold-down armrest), no Homelink garage door opener button, and the side mirrors do not fold in.

There is no Homelink in any model unless you pay to have the option installed, then it can be put in any model.

I think only the S trim offers the Automatic Premium LED projector headlights w/ signature LED and lighted logo. This allows the cool headlight functions in EU we don't get yet may be activated by OTA update.

I have definitely gotten spoiled by the power tail lift on my FE, even with 20 inch tires the ride is smooth, 20 inch tires are expensive, I like the leatherette seats and they are easier to vacuum dog hair out of, even with the shade drawn the glass roof is hotter though that could be an advantage for our northern neighbors, I like having it pre rigged for towing though I do wish that the wiring package and ball had been included and preinstalled, I find that the improved turning radius and good rearview camera help me to avoid curb rash. In total, I liked all of the options in the FE though I could do with out the glass roof and 20 inch tires for a slightly lower price if all other items remained the same.

Interesting comments re the 19s, I haven't checked lately but 9 years ago on another car purchase with 18/19/20 inch wheel options, the 19s were the odd duck tires with limited availability and higher prices.

Tires for the 20" diameter for the ID.4 certainly aren't hard to come by, they're a very common size.

TeslaBjörn did an interesting review where he compared the Q4 Audi with the GTX and ID4 and he noticed that the Audi is a lot quieter while it’s based on the same MEB platform. One distinct difference is that the Audi has 19” standard. And he thinks it’s the smaller rim size that is the main cause.
Around 4:20 here

There are not many tires that come in both the front and rear 20" sizes for the ID.4. While plenty of tires come in either 235/50 and 255/45, there are only a couple that come in both to make a matched set. Tire Rack only offers three, one of them being winter tires, and the other two sticky summer-only tires. The only place to get the OEM tires is the dealer right now, too.

Also - these combos of sizes may exist outside of Tire Rack but not in the XL load rating this vehicle requires. Though in this size of tire, I'd expect them all to be XL since it's SUV-oriented.

When I looked a few months ago in this thread Comparing the stock tires on Pro versus FE
they were impossible to find at any of the big online places in the 20" low profile, low noise, low rolling resistance (like the stock tires) that I want for my car. Hopefully as more EVs sell, these special tire features will become more common.

I believe that the base PRO model does not have the HomeLink buttons on the rear view mirror for opening and closing garage doors/gates. The PRO S comes with three buttons.

Pro can have it as a factory install option, as my ID.4 Pro has it but as expected, extra charge.
