I was not told anything about a 60 day follow-up, I was lead to believe that I was due in at 10,000 miles or 1 year. When I had to go in to parts the other day to pickup the Weathertech trunk cover, I asked service to look at the Keyless Entry error that I still have after I installed my DashCam. These guys had no clue about the car, no idea how to operate the Infosystem screen, let alone how to operate the windshield washers (it was drizzling) thunder storm in California. No one seemed to be trained on the ID.4, he took the car back to the foreman after I showed him how to put it in drive. When he came back he asked me if we had put the key in the cup holder, which we had not, but it is possible the DashCam Installer did. He mentioned something about the car having two antennas that detect the key fob signals and maybe one was not working. He said I would have to setup an appointment and drop it back off. Unfortunately, they are not the closest dealer to me, but since I got the car there and it is fairly new, I feel somewhat obligated to get the issue resolved with them before switching over to my local dealer.

Does anyone know if the 60 day service has to be at the dealer you purchased or any VW dealer? Where I purchased is a bit far would love to avoid the drive if I could.

I asked. My local dealership sales guy says we're "supposed to" go back to the dealer we purchased from, but they'd be happy to save us the trip to answer any questions. The Service Dept, BTW, had no idea what "Double Check" is and referred me back to Sales. And it's not 60 days, the "Double Check" program is advertised for being a 30-day check-in, mainly to ask questions about things you have questions about. :D

In my case, it was VW that reached out to me and asked me if the double-check appt was set up, and then they set it up for me when I told them I didn't have such an appt.

Double check from the sticker (within 60 days/5000 miles)….

The "Double Check" was covered in your EV Specialist's training. They should have set up that appointment during your delivery.

I just need whomever reaches out to see if VW has reached out so that they can reach out why the dealership hasn't reached out...

My list [Edited]. Thanks to Andy @ Ross Tech for a good deal of the similar-to content. I plan to convey to the president of my dealer-group as he intimated upon delivery that he would welcome feedback. Also my salesman.

Great! Could you please share your list? Might be more impactful if a number of us all came in with the same issues / requests.

They did so my delivery day as part of the service dept intro. 60-day in my case.

Seat heaters: tap temperature slider with two fingers. This will toggle seat heaters like most other cars, without having to change the screen.

Carnet refresh: tap the Home button seems to refresh for me.

That's funny. I did get several mentions to be sure to come back for my 'free' oil changes. That's part of their buyer's package that comes with the $799 Dealer Processing Fee, not to be confused with the standard $699 VWC Lease Acquisition Fee

Thanks but that 2-finger thing just doesn't seem to work well for me (does on my Mac trackpad tho'). 🤷‍♂️ I would still prefer initial screen access. And this is one of those rare times when it's all about me. ;)

Wilco on the Car-Net Home button. (y)

My dealer scheduled the "double check" for 30 days. They said to keep track of any questions I had about the car so I could ask them then (or call them prior to the visit).
Same here. 30 days. I actually sold my old car while the ID.4 was in for the check-up. Got $4000 more for my 9 year old Mazda 5 than VW was offering for a trade-in 😉.

Someone on here mentioned the HVAC and Volume sliders not being illuminated apparently was acknowledged by VW they said it was a oversight on their part I believe.

I had my checkup moved up to today since next week will be busy at work. I emailed the below list to my salesman and to the service manager. My salesman and I went through the areas and I demonstrated what I meant by each one. Hopefully this trickles up to VWoA for future changes. My car unsurprisingly at 950 miles has a clean bill of health.

Problems that could be easily fixed:
Rear badge/trim rattle
Rear spoiler underside plastic rattle
Circle marks on outside bottom of doors (shipping residue?)
No spare tire (a compact spare could fit between the false floor and the true cargo floor)
No jack (I bought a used Touareg one that works great)
Only 120V charger included (2018 Audi A3 e-tron included 120V and 240V cables)

Problems that could be fixed with software updates:
Occasional message/chime to turn off headlights when leaving vehicle, despite being in auto
Navigation cannot find DC fast chargers
Battery doesn't preheat when fast charger destination entered
No way to reduce/disable traction control
B mode only slows the car to 3mph, not complete stop
Cluster only displays battery % when very low, it should all the time
Add AutoHold
Make infotainment screen chicklets different colors
Voice control is unreliable and limited
Suspension setting is in Mode (fixed shocks/springs)
No way to see charging power in kW

Carnet problems
No way to refresh
No way to check lock status
No way to schedule HVAC
No way to schedule charging
No record of charging stats

Design problems
Only 2 window switches
Seat heaters require multiple clicks and screens to operate
No 12V outlet in the front, only in the rear
No volume knob
HVAC and volume sliders aren't illuminated
Wasted space under front of center console
Capacitive touch buttons for rear seat locks too easy to accidentally hit
Capacitive touch buttons for defrost too easy to accidentally hit

I noticed the same the other day when I was washing it. The water beaded up differently in those spots. Felt a bit like the gummy glue on the back of a post-it, but not sticky.

Great list Andy! A couple of comments:
  • I have the same circle marks (4), a car wash diminished them, but they're still there
  • I hope you're right that the software updates will address so many issues (I share a number of them), however I'd welcome VW's transparency so we know what to expect, and what we'll likely need to endure
  • You're generous with your CarNet list, mine is so much longer! It's just embarrassing how badly designed it is, and how few features it has

I'm still really struggling with the mileage estimate. I completely understand it's an estimate, but it's always so far off. Just as an example, today I lost 55 on a 20 mile drive; it's "always" in this direction, so I'm quite confident I'm getting way less than 250 - even when I stay in economy mode. Showing % might help to build confidence, but I'm concerned there's something else going on...

Actually there are many pro reviewers who have cited VW is right on with their 250 mile range estimate (RWD).
But of course very environmental/driving style impacted. YMMV ;)

And yes, the displayed number drop-off is significant, but as well explained elsewhere it's very difficult technologically to accurately measure/display same. At least it's better than the 80's when no such tech really existed. I considered same back then as a patentable item but it quickly moved to my 'too hard list.' It's obviously still hard.
