Let’s assume the AWD ID.6 would have the same drivetrain and same battery as the AWD ID.4: right under 300 hp with 0-60 at 6.8 seconds (1.2 seconds slower than the AWD ID.4 but 1.4 seconds faster than the RWD ID.4), and the size similar to the VW Atlas (genuine mid-size SUV by the North American standards). The AWD ID.6 EPA range would be 230 miles.

If this AWD ID.6 were available outside China with the above specs, which one would you choose: the AWD ID.4 or the AWD ID.6?

As the ID.4 is already a bit bigger than I had anticipated/need I'd be sticking with same.

And of course if the same drivetrain (assumed) the ID.6 being longer/heavier would be relatively underpowered, although 300hp high electric torque would be plenty.

For some reason the Chinese market prefers an extended legroom back seat (e.g. Audi A8L designed specifically for them, then offered worldwide).

I need a mid-size SUV. Our current 2017 Sorento (which is not quite mid-size but significantly bigger than the ID.4) is not quite big enough for us when we go on long trips. We have a 65-lbs dog, and she can’t really fit on the back seat comfortably for long trips when my son is also in the back seat. We can’t put her in the back because that’s where the luggage is. Additionally, before we got the dog, our luggage overflowed onto the back seat, so half of it and the floor was occupied with luggage, while the other half was occupied by my son. Now that we have a dog, we can’t put luggage in the back seat area. So, we need a larger cargo area.

We definitely need a mid-size SUV to travel out of town in.

For us, a family of 3 with a small dog, the 'compact' size car fits our needs just fine. We drove our Q5 to California and back this past summer, doing almost 6k miles without much of a complaint. Might have been nice to have a slightly bigger trunk in a few cases, but for the most part is was a non-issue. And we got well north of 30 miles to the gallon on average as well. No reason really to buy a bigger car for us.

My cousins with a family of 4 prefer the Atlas by comparison.

AWD ID.4, I am actually a hot hatch lover so I would love to see this drive train in a high end ID.3 R variant in the USA. I love my Golf Rs, but going electric now. :)

Interesting, though it looks like it is slower and way less range. I have always liked the look of MINIs though.
Yeah. Only a 110 mile range though. More for city driving only.

With the tax credit it's something like $23K making it one of the cheapest EVs. I heard also it was one of the best driving EVs (like a nimble golf cart) but the wait was months if not longer (COVID had shutdown UK factories then) according to the MINI dealer near me and that's when I started exploring the ID.4/Mach-e/ModelY etc

As a second car the MINI make sense.

The ID.4 is a little bigger than I would like, I would love an ID.3R. Nope on the ID.6.

I'd prefer iD6 if it were available. I'm moving from an XC90 T8 (PHEV) which is mahoooosive. So I lose the big trunk and ability to take 7 people. Might chop the iD4 in for an iD6 if it holds its value...

I'm quite happy with the size of the ID.4 for now, but we are also a family of four and we also have a minivan for long trips. Eventually I will be very happy to see larger EVs to cover that market. ID.6/F-150 Lightning/whatever will be needed at some point.

My ID.4 is the largest car I've owned in years. It's almost too big for me. I think I would have been happier with a VW the size if the ID.3.

Don't get me wrong. I love my ID.4 but I'm a married retired guy who doesn't need the size. I probably who have kept my Bolt EV if it hadn't been for the battery issue. Also, the Bolt was uncomfortable and kind of noisy. There again, I think the ID.3 would be a better vehicle.

I'm surprised the iD3 isn't available in the US. The've sold the Golf in the US why not the iD3? I see loads of them round my way.

According to Scott Keogh of VW said there wouldn’t be enough demand for a small electric hatchback, despite it being something that customers have been asking for years.

Compact cars/sedans are not hot sellers in the US. Even VW announced that they weren't making any Golf available for US besides the GTI and Golf R for the 8th gen. More and more brands are killing off their car segment and focusing on SUVs and pickup.
