Mine had been smooth and quiet for the week. Yesterday for the first time it clicked 3-4 times when opening. Might be an issue, but I need to see over a couple of weeks,
Mine hasn't made any clicking so far, but I wouldn't call it particularly quiet. Not that it's actually loud, but it takes such a long time to fully open or close that its persistent sound is slightly annoying if you do it while trying to talk to someone else in the car.
That is what we are going to do, but it will be after everyone is finished going nuts about the gas shortage. Dealer only has gas car loaners.
Sunshade Clicking
VW Dealer is replacing my Sun Shade based on intermittent ratcheting or clicking sound as it closes. They sent video off to VW and replacement part need to come from Germany.
First ID4 repair at dealer - asking for 1 week so they can "do it right and check any other fault codes" - loaner car provided. Positive so far

Warranty repair was much easier than dealer anticipated. Technician commented that much of the car has similaraity to aother Audi and VW vehicles so that really helps. They were done in a couple of hours (I returned next day for car). Would have been interesting to see car without A,B, C pillars, headliner and sunroof frame when they replaced shade.
That's funny but everything is relative...historically, that repair has been a colossal pain.

Did they fix your sunshade or is it still clicking?
It is in the shop right now. Said it would be done on Friday (1 day repair) it was not. Have a loaner right now, I’ll let you know how it goes when it’s done.
Update: fixed. Take it in they’ll take care of it.

If you think this is slow, you should see the one in my Golf Alltrack… it takes twice as long! But neither has ever made any clicking noise…

Yes, sunshade full deployment/retraction is quite slow, but then it is quite long. 
I have no clicking noise, however I only deploy/retract semiannually as seasonally needed (I retracted it a few days ago). 🌞❄

My dealership just told me that ratcheting noise is normal! Can someone please mention which dealership they took it to and had luck getting it fixed.

I had that issue and the dealer is looking at it. I think it is a track that is not quite properly aligned.

The explanation I got from the stealership is that "the motor and gears are being overloaded" and it is not by design, so if enough of us demand it be remedied, they should redesign the part, (hopefully).
