via Reddit I found out that ID.4 FEs are showing up on dealer inventories, like this one:

Since none of us has gotten notifications of ready cars I wonder if these have been delivered. Also are these abandoned reservations?

My dealer shows 3 cars. They don't list a price - it says "Please call". There are VIN numbers as well.

But it does say MSRP is 45190$. I guess that's after you add in the destination charge.
In Pittsburgh at Cochran there are 6 listed. I would consider that a high number, not sure though. The Cochran branch in Wexford had 10 orders combined with AWD and Pros. Not sure how many there were for the main campus but 6 first additions seems a lot.

I am wondering if our cars are mixed in with this. My dealer has two black and one blue, and the one I ordered was blue. There was someone else on the forum here who also ordered one from this dealer - don't recall the color they wanted. Take those two out, and it leaves one for the dealer demo.
Herzog-Meier in Beaverton, OR lists 3, all marked as sold. Dick Hannah VW in Vancouver, WA also lists 3, marked as arriving soon.
We are even getting one here in Dubuque, IA. it lists rubber floor mats and trunk liner MDOs, and even lists a $1609 Dealer Discount bringing the price to $43,816 for a Mythos Black First Edition. "In Transit" but I can't wait to see it get here!
Two dealers near me have one each. I contacted them both and they both seem to be for sale, likely cancelled pre-orders, or maybe each dealer gets one or two to sell off the lot? The dealer I’m getting delivery to hasn’t listed one yet, but they told me they have one coming. I may try to get a test drive in this week. My wife is also acting jealous of my order, so maybe she’ll be able to snag one herself.

The photos for my dealer are just stock photos. I looked at a couple of other dealers - one dealer had just one car, and the photos were taken indoors in a large booth. The dealer in Salisbury didn't show anything. Smith VW in Wilmington had two cars (one white, one blue).

Once you start to see pictures of the car out in front of the dealership, that's when it is real.

Each dealer likely gets one as a demonstrator.
I will not be surprised dealers have either ordered one to sell outright or they will have last minute people cancelling even after their orders arrive. That is a good thing. It can bring the price down due to low demand. The longer the car sits in the lot, the more the dealer wants to get rid of it. I may have a reservation, but if I see the car I want at a discounted price, I'll go for it. After all, the deposit is fully refundable. Watch this

From VW's perspective, they know that only some fraction of the reservations will convert into sales. This is already baked into the equation - we just don't know what they are assuming.
If I piddle at my dealer's website, it actually says the cars are "On the lot". But if they are on the lot, they haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet - so does that mean some cars were delivered in the overnight hours? The dealer doesn't open until 9...

All of this is bizarre - on Monday, my specialist said "it is on the way, but I don't have an ETA".

Then again, the website could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time that ever happened.

It’s another way they can drum up some business. They get people’s attention, they come in to see the new thing and maybe buy something else when it’s not there. Ford dealers doing the same with the MACH-E, I tried to go see one at a local dealer and no one knew about it on sales floor.

I guess, but many of us here wouldn't buy an ICE. I could use Covid as an excuse, I guess, but unless the car is physically there, I am not getting off the couch.

Step 7 looks to be sending people over to the dealer's website to complete the purchase. I wouldn't be surprised if many of these are the reserved vehicles ready for the final step. Many of the VINs are in the low 8000s (I saw a 7000 range listed in Brooklyn) which seem to be aligning with first day reservation production.

Then again, maybe the dealers were able to make reservations alongside the public.
My dealership inventory shows one on the lot and one in transit, but my sales person doesn't seem to know about either of them. One VIN is in the 10000 range the other is in the 13000 range.

yeah those on here wouldn’t, but those on the fence, or those who just want to get a glimpse of the new “kid” on the block.
Hope everyone sees their cars soon.
Mission bay VW San Diego lists 3 for sale. They have an option to request for a test drive. I signed up for tomorrow, lets see if it actually goes through.

My local dealer has (4) FE listed with $1509 to $1583 off. Not a lot but below MSRP.

My dealer also now lists one Mythos Black FE (their demonstrator?) but not my Dusk Blue.
