I am currently driving an ID3 ( my ID4 is now into month 4 with the dealer to replace one component). As autumn has started on 3 occasions I have noticed that when I get into the car in the mornings with the outside temperature of about 12 Degrees Centigrade, I notice that the drivers seat and steering wheel heaters switch on.
It is not as though I was using them when I parked the car.
I have never selected steering wheel or seat heating during normal running.
Is this a bug or something built into the software to automatically bring them on to save power using the heater ???

it's an option you can select in the WeConnectID app to turn on when you enable (scheduled) climatization.
You can also configure the car to automatically turn it on when needed, when you unlock the car.

Many thanks for that. Since this isn't my car, I don't have the WeConnectID App set up. I have it set on my own car but that has been with the dealer for 4 months.

Ugh, remember the f… up your dealer made now. So sorry for you. Personally I would add it to your app just for some convenience. Do you have any scheduled departure times and or climatization setup in the car?

Just checked in the car. In the menu there is an option called “stat. Air con.”
There under settings (cogwheel) you can select it to start air conditioning when the car gets unlocked.
Then under “air con” you can select if it should preheat your chair and wheel or not.

my guess is that this is set up for you

The seat is not hot when I get into the car, but the screen shows that the Heated seat is on as well as the steering wheel heat.
I think this rules out any Pre- heating settings ?
