I recently installed the OEM Base Carrier Bars - PN 11A071151 following the guidance documents provided with the parts kit. Front bar is 10.5 inches back from the front of the mounting rail and the rear is mount 27.5 inches back from the front bar. I've noticed that at around 40-46mph the front bar vibrates and reverberates throughout the cabin.
Has anyone else experienced this with these cross bars? I'd expect there be some wind noise, but this is loud enough that I can feel it. I may just have to move them around a bit to see if it stops, but would not expect noise if they're installed to specification.

I have OEM carrier bars on my 2016 Sportwagen and have never had them vibrate or make noise like this.

I had the same problem with my VW OEM bars. Solved it by adding flat cross bar pads. Vibration gone!

Thanks for the hint! I tried repositioning the front bar, my initial install as off by about an inch. I installed 10.2 inches from the front of the mount versus the center of the rail. It made a small difference in that it lowered the speed at which the vibrations started from low 40-45 mph to 35-40 mph. The Pro doesnt have the glass roof, which is probably more rigid. I can feel the roof vibrating when this is happening!

I used the rack pads on the VW OEM's.

Make sure that the pads you purchase are for the flat racks and not round racks.

Have there been any solutions to the vibration these bars cause. I recently installed them and I am getting a horrible vibration from 35-40 mph. The wind noise I can handle but this vibration reverberates throughout the cabin and is very annoying.

I have tried to move the bars a little, they are installed in the right direction yet still no change.

Wrap an elastic cord around them, as shown in above video. Works like a charm

I actually just recently created a post about this exact issue because I initially couldn't find any other posts about it.

I took my car in for my 30 day check-up a while back and asked the dealer about the vibration and they said "VW engineers are aware of it and are searching for a solution and they would let me know when they have one." I have yet to hear about a solution, but my car is going to them on the 11 of Oct for some minor warranty related things. So I am going to ask if there are any solutions yet. Truthfully, I don't want to be forced to pay for an additional item (i.e., the pads mentioned by someone else) so if that is the only solution to stop it and VW won't pay for it, I'm half tempted to ask for my money back.

I've resigned myself to just installing the bars when they're going to be put to use. I didn't get vibration when I had a bike up top. With just the bike carrier there was occasional vibration. I haven't tried the cord wrapping trick yet. I wonder if there's a difference with the glass roof? I suspect there isn't the same issue, since the glass is more rigid than the metal roof.

ID.4 Roof Rack issues, annoying vibrating sound

Hi there, When I purchased my ID.4 I also added roof racks that had to be shipped to the dealership and then put on as they weren't available at that time. Ever since I had them installed (the dealership did it) mine make a very annoying hum and vibrate at speeds between roughly 35-40mph...

Another thread said to reverse the rubber strip, that worked for me, strip should be flush with top of bar.

I'm wondering if the noise has to do with this gap between the bar and the tower. I marked it in red on the photo it's like 1/4" on the front of the bar on all 4 corners.
Do others have this gap? I don't see a toeing adjustment (like on yakimas).
Little irregularities can really impact mileage range as well.
