Inductive charging for EVs

I think the inertia of J1772 is pretty strong now and adopting a new and different standard would be painful. If you remember back in the old days, the paddle chargers were actually inductive! Although you still had to plug the inductive paddle into your car so not quite wireless...
I like the technology and the charging loss is getting close to the loss from plugging in. There are some aftermarket solutions currently but none seemed great and are not cheap.

What I really want to see is in-road charging where your car can charge while driving so you never need to stop. Ultimately, this technology plus autonomous driving will make EV trucking really viable.

I don't think it would replace J1772, it would be an alternative. Akin to Qi charging for your phone; you can charge wirelessly or still plug in.
I park outside (my wife & my toys get the garage), this would be nice to charge without having a cable. Not sure if my HOA would allow it, but it would be nice!

It's not very nice to keep your wife in the garage!

The hardware looks quite attractive, actually. I'm not sure why an HOA would not allow it. Looking further into the future, maybe we will see federal regulations that force the issue, similar to what happened with satellite dishes, and here in California with roof access and solar installs. Both decisions were wise and enabled homeowners to move into the future regardless of silly and restrictive local rules.
Full disclosure: I have been board president and vice president of my HOA for many years, and often acted as a BS deflector when folks pushed for stupid restrictions in our rules and regs.
