Is it possible to turn the screen off but keep listening to music/podcast/radio?

In my 2015 Mazda 3 hatch I would set the infotainment screen to clock only mode, allowing for a darker cockpit/cabin for night time driving. 2017 Subaru Forester also allows for this.

Curious to know if I have just missed something…

Not that I've been able to do. The A/V power button acts as a mute.

Yea, that’s a nice feature. Fingers crossed some one else has a solution.

An option — probably too much hassel — would be to use a piece of static cling window tint. It's designed to be indefinitely removable. Maybe it works even be acceptable to leave on permanently, since the car brightens the screen in daylight.

As another option, perhaps a piece of lightweight, sheer fabric to act as a curtain.

While I appreciate the ingenuity, I think I would sooner learn to live with it as is.

Not holding my breath but maybe this function will be in an OTA update.

VW has said in a recent interview they're open to introducing new features, and I think they works be more motivated to do so if it creates sustained revenue through a subscription base.

So perhaps once they're comfortable they've got a robust OTA system working reliably, and as their software team gets up to speed, this would be the type of request they'd consider.

Fingers crossed — it's early yet, and we still have the rollout of the first update to contend with.

I would have loved this feature the other night when I was at a drive-in movie. Although, the appeal of a little screen slipcover can not be denied; I might make a pattern for that and sew up something.

For something like a drive in I would consider a infotainment cozy, one would be parked so removing/installing is of little concern.

My hope is for a “turn screen off” button/function, not “turn off infotainment”. This would allow me to use GPS or similar on highways and easily turn off the screen when I get onto more rural unlit roads. Here’s to hoping the function is added.
