Just picked up my white Pro-S yesterday and am getting acquainted with it. One annoying thing I have experienced is that after driving and putting it in park and then pulling on the door handle release inside, the door won't open until you pull the release a second time. Anyone else experience this or know why this may be happening?
If I just open the door to enter the car to play with the infotainment system or something else and then pull the door release to get out, it opens fine. It seems like it only occurs after the car has been driven and then put into park.

Latch is not supposed to work like that. Only one of my 4 doors (Front PaX) does exactly that - requires slight pressure on door before unlatching. All others open first pull and not dependent on applying slight pressure to door first. Dealer just called to tell me replacement latch for the door is in (4+ weeks to get it). Heading there Monday for the replacement along with the wiring bundle movement under the rear bumper for the left / rear sensors intermittently reporting sensor out of view on long trips (>45 mins driving). Dealer was very familiar with the wiring bundle movement possibly being needed when they called about the replacement latch.

Can I suggest at least mild editing / adjustment of your post to suit the actual thread before you mass post to every thread imaginable? Reading your contribution once is enough for most of us. Thanks.

sorry posted on 3 of the many threads (at least 6 so far) dealing with this inside latch issue because so many people are confused about the faulty latches. this thread is one of the 6+ I found so far.

I have no issues with the way the inside door latch operates. It's been natural for me from day one (both a demo and my own FE). I've never even thought about it until reading these associated threads. So I wouldn't deem it "faulty."
Germanic brands tend to do human factors items, and some other mechanical-service things, a bit differently from USA domestic brands and perhaps this learning curve is the root cause? I've prior had over a decade with VAG, and wife's Benz, so that likely accounts for my thought-less experience.

I'm still trying to adjust to the behavior. If somebody can describe how it is supposed to work I can probably adjust faster.

Maybe I should just read the manual :)... but if somebody is willing to summarize or point to the right page, that would be appreciated.

Most likely due to auto-locking above a certain speed: in South Africa, all cars did it, and required a double-tug to open.

There is an issue with faulty door latches, which require several pulls to open the door, and basically prevent the door from being opened from outside. This is not the same as the double pull issue, and may be what was being referred to.

I have one of the faulty door latches. At times, when I try to open the door from outside, the drivers door will not open, but all other doors will. If trying to open the door from the inside latch, I may have to pull several times to get the door to open.

My trick to getting the door to open when I am outside the car is to use the unlock button to open all the windows. I then reach in and pull the inside handle until the door opens. This sometimes takes many pulls to get the door to open, but at least it opens at some point, and I do not have to crawl over from the driver's seat. I hope that new part is delivered soon.

I quite understand that there may be some faulty parts for some individuals, as with any make/model. I too hope your new part arrives soon and your issue is resolved.

I was responding to a more generalized "faulty door latch" post, as again I have no issues with mine and likely many other 'silent majority' members also have no issues. Just trying to bring balance to the Force. ;)

Yeah, there may be some faulty latches out there, but by and large, they are working as they should. Balance is always needed……….
