First of all, hello all. I just took delivery of my id.4 pro s yesterday and have a question. Why does the wireless CarPlay have to make my iPhone use the car’s hotspot. I can’t figure out how to use it without the hotspot. I live in an area in Texas that my phone cell signal is bad so I have to use WiFi calling and after I get out of my car, it does not turn my WiFi back on. does anyone have any ideas?

It’s not using the car’s built-in hotspot, which is essentially a WiFi router to which you can connect devices via WiFi. Wireless CarPlay uses a WiFi connection to the head unit, in addition to the standard Bluetooth connection, as data transfer on Bluetooth alone isn’t fast enough. So if you need to use WiFi calling, and your phone is connected via wireless CarPlay, then you may not be able to make phone calls, not sure.
That’s what is happening and I’ve seen videos of others without the cell data on there id.4
